Chapter 10

The four people and the dog rested in the repair shop for about half an hour. This was mainly because Shi Ruoyu knew that the young lady was hiding inside the supermarket and was not in immediate danger. It would be more appropriate to let them rest and adjust their state before attempting a rescue.

During this time, two or three stray zombies wandered over, but they were easily dealt with by A Chou and Ren Guobin working together.

Shi Ruoyu couldn't help but marvel at Ren Guobin's fighting spirit. The patients on the fourth floor were different; each of them could easily eliminate a zombie in a one-on-one situation...

Of course, apart from their outstanding combat skills, there was a deeper reason. Compared to ordinary people, zombies, although stronger, were very inflexible and fought mindlessly. In a one-on-one situation, ordinary people should actually have the upper hand!

However, humans have a huge weakness: fear. Ordinary people, seeing the disgusting and terrifying appearance of zombies, would inevitably feel afraid, and once afraid, they would be at a loss, giving the zombies the upper hand. These mental patients, on the other hand, had no such problem. They were not afraid of the zombies, which was the fundamental reason for their advantage.

For example, at this moment, Ren Guobin treated killing zombies as a form of entertainment. He had somehow found a large file and sharpened it a bit, using it to stab the zombies' necks, causing blood to spurt with each strike.

He also found a large wrench for Ye Yizhou, probably originally used for repairing car chassis. The wrench, made of pure steel, looked much more impressive than Ye Yizhou's original stick. After handling it a few times, Ye Yizhou seemed very satisfied. He took out a large poster of Dami from his bag and stuck it on the handle, turning the wrench into his personal weapon! Whenever he saw a zombie, he would strike its head, causing brains to splatter with each hit, as brutal and disgusting as it could be...

After resting sufficiently, Shi Ruoyu stood up, shouldered his backpack, and set off again. The others, including Shen Wenting, followed behind with large backpacks, carrying food, medicine, and other supplies.

The entrance to the supermarket was densely packed with zombies. Even if they were strong, they couldn't launch a frontal assault. So, the four of them had to follow Ren Guobin's strategy and circle around for about two to three hundred meters until the density of zombies decreased to a manageable level. They then circled back to the rear of the supermarket.

Along the way, they inevitably encountered some zombies, but fortunately, they were all experienced fighters. As long as the zombies didn't swarm them all at once, they could handle five or six at a time without any problem.

After they had just finished off three unfortunate zombies, Ye Yizhou seemed to be attracted by something and walked straight to a corner without a word.

There was a small restaurant, probably catering to supermarket shoppers. The front of the restaurant was a scene of blood and decay, the floor stained dark red with blood, and about a dozen rotting corpses lay scattered, like a slaughterhouse.

Shi Ruoyu noticed him squatting and examining the corpses closely. Curious, he approached and asked, "Old Ye, what's up?" Ye Yizhou pointed to one of the corpses.

Shi Ruoyu observed and immediately said, "This guy had already turned into a zombie before he died... Oh, I know what you're thinking. There are some strong survivors. I've already mentioned that some people have awakened special abilities, so it's normal for them to have killed a few zombies. We've seen at least eighty or a hundred dead along the way..."

Ye Yizhou shook his head and pointed to the wound on the corpse. Shi Ruoyu finally exclaimed in surprise... The fatal wound on the zombie's throat was not unusual in itself, as the only way to kill a zombie was to attack its throat, head, or heart.

However, the wound didn't look like it was made by a sharp weapon; it looked more like it had been torn open! More bizarrely, the wound revealed a deep, hollow cavity.

The word "deep" might seem strange, but as Shi Ruoyu looked at the wound, the first word that came to mind was indeed "deep"!

The wound was very deep and hollow, as if someone had used a drill to create a large hole. Shi Ruoyu checked the other corpses nearby and found that several others had similar wounds.

These wounds were clearly bite marks, which suggested that they were not caused by survivors but by other zombies biting their throats! However, why they were so "deep" was very strange.

Shi Ruoyu scratched his head, puzzled.

He seriously told Ye Yizhou, "Old Ye, this discovery is very important. Good job on your keen observation!"

However, Ye Yizhou seemed indifferent. He took out a poster of Dami from his pocket and carefully compared it with the dead zombie, then sighed and walked away, leaving Shi Ruoyu standing there in shock...

Shi Ruoyu looked at the zombie again and suddenly felt a chill. It seemed that Ye Yizhou not only had face blindness but also had issues with gender recognition...

After confirming that the zombie was not Dami, Ye Yizhou lost interest. Considering the urgency of rescuing the young lady, Shi Ruoyu decided to put his questions aside for now, and the four of them continued toward their goal!

Behind the supermarket was a small square, about the size of a basketball court. There were two doors at the back: one was a large iron garage door, probably used for unloading goods, and the other was a side door, likely used by office staff. Entering through this door would lead to the office area.

Although the number of zombies in this area was not as dense as at the front entrance, it was still much more than in the town center. The small square behind the back door was crowded with about thirty to fifty zombies, aimlessly wandering around. One characteristic of zombies is that they never stop moving; Shi Ruoyu had never seen a zombie sitting down to rest...

After a brief observation, Shi Ruoyu decided not to engage in a direct fight because there were too many of them. He planned to use his ability to bind and eliminate the zombies one by one, a strategy known as "divide and conquer," which would be easier and more efficient...

Shi Ruoyu was just about to put his plan into action when Shen Wenting suddenly burst out in anger, shouting, "I hate white things the most!"

Before Shi Ruoyu could react, the girl had already charged at a zombie wearing white clothes!

Shi Ruoyu let out a cry of despair. He had no choice but to follow her; he couldn't let her go to her death alone. Ren Guobin, on the other hand, was excited, assuming a standard forward march posture and shouting, "Comrades, the charge has begun! Follow me! Charge!" Shi Ruoyu was so angry he almost wanted to kick him...

Fortunately, Shi Ruoyu had a key strength: he remained calm in the face of danger. He knew that their greatest advantage over the zombies was their intelligence. They had to use this to the fullest. He decided to strike first, taking out as many zombies as possible before they could react, prioritizing those with physical advantages.

He swung his right hand with all his might, and a flash of cold light sliced through the neck of a tall zombie. A few seconds later, the zombie's head fell to the ground!

Ye Yizhou was equally quick, striking a zombie's back of the head with the large wrench, causing its brain to splatter, and it fell to the ground with a scream.

Shen Wenting was even more formidable, delivering a flying kick to the head of the zombie in white. The zombie, at least 1.7 meters tall, was kicked flying and crashed into a wall, collapsing in a heap.

Ren Guobin and A Chou worked together, with A Chou biting a zombie and Ren Guobin stabbing its neck with the file.

The four of them each took down a zombie in the first moments, but the number of zombies was overwhelming. Hearing the commotion, they roared and quickly surrounded the four of them!

Shi Ruoyu, while taking down another zombie with all his might, shouted, "Everyone, stay close to me! Don't fight alone, it's dangerous!"

Ren Guobin and Ye Yizhou, and even A Chou, quickly moved closer to Shi Ruoyu. However, Shen Wenting was completely out of control, her teeth gritted as she darted around the group of zombies, taking them down one by one.

Shi Ruoyu was at a loss with the girl, but fortunately, she seemed very capable and agile. The clumsy zombies couldn't catch her, so he focused on fighting alongside Ye Yizhou, Ren Guobin, and A Chou, retreating to the wall and forming a circle, with A Chou at their feet, ready to attack from below.

While fighting off the zombies, Shi Ruoyu kept an eye on Shen Wenting. Suddenly, he noticed something unusual out of the corner of his eye. A zombie wearing jeans and a gray T-shirt caught his attention.

This zombie seemed different from the others. Instead of mindlessly chasing Shen Wenting, it stood still, carefully observing!

This discovery immediately put Shi Ruoyu on high alert. He kept an eye on the gray T-shirt zombie. Sure enough, when Shen Wenting fought her way to near the zombie and turned her back to it, the zombie's lips curled into a strange smile, and it moved quickly!

Unlike the other zombies, this one was very agile and had a clear strategy, using both hands to grab Shen Wenting's back!
