As the moon rose and night fell, Li Fatty and his group had been busy all day and hadn't eaten anything yet. They left Niu Dabao's room and headed for the kitchen. Niu Dabao had already accepted the reality of the end of the world, but it seemed he still needed some time to digest it, so Li Fatty left him in the room.
Earlier, when they were in the kitchen, Niu Dabao opened the fridge, and they saw that there was still a lot of food inside. However, Niu Dabao didn't take anything out to eat, as it seemed to belong to his four roommates. Now that they no longer needed these things, it was a good opportunity for Li Fatty and his group to have a feast. So they were now preparing to go to the kitchen for a big meal.
Niu Dabao hesitated, moving the mouse to the icon of "Jade Empire 6," struggling painfully in his heart. He hadn't even seen the final boss! Was his effort over the past week all for nothing? Was he going to give up just like that?
After hesitating for a long time, Niu Dabao finally closed the laptop.
After accepting the reality, Niu Dabao instinctively wanted to be with a group of people, as it felt safer. So he immediately got up and left the room, but he stopped when he saw the female zombie lying on the ground.
Although they didn't usually talk much, and they might not have said more than a few words in a week, seeing this girl die in front of him made Niu Dabao feel quite sad. She was a good person, with few faults, warm and friendly, and always smiling.
Isn't it said that girls who smile a lot usually have good luck? Sigh!
Niu Dabao shook his head and went to catch up with Li Fatty and the others. Although he felt sorry for her, there was nothing he could do. He could only silently pray for her, hoping that God would be with her.
As Niu Dabao passed by the other rooms, he heard continuous knocking sounds. He scratched his head, a bit confused, wondering why he hadn't heard them before.
In fact, since a few days ago, every time Niu Dabao went out, the knocking sounds would start. But every time he went out, he was either about to faint from hunger or from holding his breath, so he had filtered out the knocking sounds. Now that he knew the truth, these knocking sounds sounded really terrifying!
Niu Dabao didn't dare to stay any longer and quickly ran into the kitchen. At this moment, Li Fatty and Yan Zekun had already started taking food out of the fridge.
Each dormitory kitchen had two refrigerators, but for five people, it was still a bit insufficient. So the refrigerators were often packed full, which was actually a good thing for Li Fatty and his group.
Lily picked out some apples, peaches, cherries, and other fruits, and took them to the sink to wash. Yan Zekun took out some frozen French fries, meat pies, pizzas, and other foods from the freezer and put them in the oven to bake.
Li Fatty found a box of sliced beef in the freezer and put it in the microwave to defrost. Then he took out scallions, ginger, and potatoes from a nearby cabinet. They hadn't had a good meal in days, and Li Fatty was tired of chips and frozen foods, so he decided to make a beef and potato stew to satisfy his craving.
Li Fatty had been living alone since high school and naturally knew how to cook a few dishes. After the family's financial situation changed, he had no more source of income, so he started cooking for himself. Although he couldn't be called a master chef after these two years, he could certainly make a few decent dishes.
When he said in the KTV that he could make dishes like fish-flavored shredded pork and twice-cooked pork, he wasn't just boasting; he really knew how to make them. But now, it seemed he didn't know when he would have the chance to do so.
Niu Dabao rummaged through a cabinet and took out a large bag of dried chili peppers.
"Can everyone handle spicy food?" Li Fatty took the chilies from Niu Dabao and asked them.
Seeing that they didn't object, Li Fatty started peeling the potatoes and said to Niu Dabao, "Dabao, wash the scallions and ginger. Cut the scallions into segments and the ginger into strips."
Niu Dabao agreed and started helping. After all, his stomach was growling from hunger. The sooner they finished cooking, the sooner he could fill his stomach. As for going to Tesco to buy food, Niu Dabao didn't even dare to think about it; he didn't want to go out and feed the zombies.
Li Fatty and Niu Dabao were busy at the cutting board when Lily came over with the freshly washed cherries. She put the cherries in front of Li Fatty's mouth, making him feel a bit awkward. If he refused, it would be even more awkward, so Li Fatty had no choice but to open his mouth and eat the cherry.
Seeing this, Niu Dabao laughed and had a look of understanding.
"Lily, don't do that, or others might misunderstand," Li Fatty said to Lily, a bit embarrassed.
Lily ignored him and pulled out the cherry stem from his mouth, then put another cherry in.
"Brother Fat, your sister-in-law is really beautiful, like a movie star," Niu Dabao said softly as Lily went back to wash the fruits.
"Don't call me Brother Fat. If people don't know, they might think I'm very fat. Call me Brother Li," Li Fatty said, pouting and unhappy. "Besides, she's not your sister-in-law; you should call her Sister."
"Okay, Brother Li. Whether she's your sister-in-law or sister, it's all up to you, right?"
Seeing Niu Dabao's lecherous expression and remembering that he had mistaken him for a robber earlier, Li Fatty felt a surge of anger.
"Why do you talk so much when I ask you to do something? Aren't you afraid of cutting your hand?" Li Fatty said. Just then, Niu Dabao threw the knife aside and started chatting with him intently.
Damn! I said that to make you focus on your work, not because I'm worried you'll cut your hand! Li Fatty was truly at a loss for words with Niu Dabao.
"Brother Li, I'm not flattering you, but your sister-in-law is really beautiful, just like that TV host!" Niu Dabao said seriously.
"Are you kidding me? Get back to work," Li Fatty replied without looking up.
"What's her name? It's quite unique, and I even looked it up on Baidu," Niu Dabao scratched his head, thinking hard.
"Right! Her name is Baili Baili!" Niu Dabao suddenly remembered and said excitedly.
"Are you talking about川岛芳子 (Kayako Saeki)?" Li Fatty looked at him as if he were an idiot and replied, speechless.
"No, no! I'm serious! It's not a Japanese name; it's a compound surname! Do you know the surname Baili?"
Seeing Niu Dabao's serious expression, Li Fatty started to wonder. Lily's Chinese name means "lily," could it be that Niu Dabao was right?
"Because her name is too long and hard to say, everyone on the internet calls her Baili."
"Bai Baihe?"
"It's Baili Baili!"
