Late at night, Leoard woke up and got out of bed. It was close to dawn, but there were no signs of the sun rising yet.
However, Leoard, who had woken up, could not think of going back to sleep. It was because today was the day of the engagement with the Fourth Princess.
He thought about going for a run outside, but decided against it as it would be awkward if he were seen. Instead, Leoard decided to meditate in his room, discarding all杂念 and deeply concentrating.
He manipulated the magic within his body to deepen his understanding of it. While meditating did not make him stronger, it improved his efficiency in using magic.
After a while, Leoard, who had been meditating, felt a light in his closed eyes. When he opened them, sunlight was streaming in through the window. It seemed that the sun had risen. Leoard realized he had meditated for a long time.
"Hmm... Well, let's do some strength training and work up a sweat."
After completing a series of push-ups, squats, sit-ups, and back exercises, Leoard headed to the bathroom. When Leoard came out of the bath, Isabel was waiting for him, and he took the towel and change of clothes she offered.
"Good work."
"You're always so much fun to take care of."
"You're quite talkative yourself."
"Do I annoy you?"
"No, not at all."
After changing, Leoard headed to the dining room with Isabel. Beluga and Olivia were already there. Unfortunately, Regulus and Rayla were not present today.
"Leoard. I know you understand, but today the Fourth Princess will be here. Be on your best behavior."
"I'm looking forward to it, Leoard."
"Well, I'll do my best."
Worried Beluga and cheerful Olivia showed their different reactions, and Leoard laughed while eating.
After breakfast, Leoard studied magic in his room. He learned lightning, earth, and water attributes, which he had not had in the game.
Eventually, the fateful moment arrived. There was a knock on Leoard's door. It seemed that the Fourth Princess had finally arrived.
Leoard, having made up his mind, left his room. Led by Isabel, he headed to the reception room, where the king, queen, and Sylvia were sitting on the sofa. On the opposite side, Beluga and Olivia were seated.
When Leoard entered, he first bowed to the king, queen, and Sylvia.
"Thank you for coming all this way. I hope you have a pleasant day today."
"Hehe. Today is a private matter. Please relax."
"Then I will take you up on that."
Leoard sat next to Olivia, facing Sylvia. When their eyes met, Sylvia smiled, and Leoard responded with a smile.
(She's got a good personality, doesn't she!)
Leoard was certain that she was thinking dark thoughts in her heart.
(Hehe. Lord Leoard. You seem so confident, but I won't lose to you.)
They were both smiling, but sparks were flying between them. Their parents, seeing them laugh together, mistakenly thought they were getting along well.
Finally, the engagement that would determine Leoard and Sylvia's future began.
"Leoard. I think you've heard from Beluga, but today you have an engagement. The person is my daughter, Sylvia."
"Hehe, it's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Leoard."
Her smile was truly angelic, so delicate that anyone would say the same.
However, Leoard knew that this smile was calculated. He thought it would have been better not to know, but he was also glad he did.
Incidentally, Sylvia's parents were also troubled by her personality. They never would have thought she had a sadistic side. They knew her from birth, which made it even more difficult.
"Yes, the pleasure is mine, Princess Sylvia."
Leoard responded with a radiant smile. The queen looked hopeful, thinking that Leoard might be a good match for Sylvia.
For a while, they engaged in small talk, and the king and queen, along with the Harvests, enjoyed a lively conversation. Next to them, Leoard and Sylvia were smiling.
(I understand that reminiscing about old times is fun, but I think we can get to the main topic now.)
(It's fun, but I can't keep up.)
Leoard let out a small sigh, feeling a bit bored. He wanted to get to the main topic and finish quickly.
Sylvia also wanted to get to the main topic, but unlike Leoard, she had no intention of getting married.
"Oops, I got carried away with the old stories."
The king ended the conversation, and Leoard and Sylvia were glad to finally get to the main topic.
"Well, it's been a long time, but let's get to the main topic. Leoard, I want you to marry my daughter.
Of course, I'm not forcing you. I want to respect your wishes."
"..."
Leoard pretended to think for a moment before responding to the king.
"I decline."
The atmosphere in the room froze. The king, who was the supreme ruler of the country, had not expected Leoard to refuse. Despite saying he would respect Leoard's wishes, it was unthinkable for a subject to refuse.
This needed to be addressed. Depending on the answer, Leoard could be punished for disgracing the royal family.
"Leoard, I believe you are wise enough to understand that depending on your reason, I may have to judge you."
Leoard, undaunted by the king's authority, stated his reason for refusing.
