Someone left a review for me.

It made me really happy since it was my first one.

After that, it was really difficult to dry the room.

Especially the carpet, which was soaked with a lot of water, had to be wrung out and hung up. There was no way a five-year-old like me could do that, so I had to get help from the maid and the butler.

It seemed they had heard the situation from my brother Gillon, and without even a sigh, they helped me with a bright smile. I really felt bad about it.

Thanks to them, most of the furniture in my room is now gone. The only thing left is the bed frame, which was too big to take out. Everything else was thrown outside to dry.

The windows are wide open, and a cool breeze is blowing in.

Because of this, the already spacious room feels even more vast.

I have to sleep in a different room tonight.

After the maid and the butler helped me clean up the room, I headed to Gillon's room.

"Gillon, it's Jed."

When I knocked, Gillon's somewhat grumpy and blunt voice immediately replied, "Come in."

He sounds like that, so the maid has to be careful around him.

While thinking this in my head, I entered the room.

The room was about the same size as mine. The big difference was the bookshelves filled with books, which surrounded the room. There were also scattered papers with scribbles all over them.

Gillon, who usually stays in his room and is proud, gave me a completely different impression.

He must have been reading books and studying every day to prepare for magic school.

Until now, I was a small child and wasn't allowed to get close to this room, but why is he suddenly letting me in?

I looked at Gillon with a questioning gaze, but he seemed to be searching for a book on the bookshelf. He had changed out of his wet clothes, just like me, but into the exact same outfit.

He always wears the same kind of clothes, but I wonder how many he has.

"Oh, this is it."

Saying that, Gillon handed me three books.

"What are these?"

"These are books that explain the basics of magic. The ones you had earlier got wet, right?"

I thought I would be scolded in this room, but it seems that's not the case. Confused, I asked my question.

"Y-Yeah, but why are you giving them to me?"

"Idiot. If you use magic carelessly again like before, the mansion will burn down. So, read these for now."

"Okay."

"Then practice magic. I don't know why you can read 'Magic Language,' but at least learn to control it."

"Okay, I understand."

When I nodded, Gillon sat down in his chair as if he was done with me and started writing something on a piece of paper.

After staring at his back for a few seconds, I quietly left the room.

In the end, he must have been worried that if I used magic carelessly, the mansion might burn down at any time.

Not knowing Gillon's true intentions, I headed to an empty room.

There are six attributes in magic. Most people have one attribute, and those who have two or three attributes simultaneously are extremely rare.

A great sage from long ago is said to have handled all attributes and used great magic, but it's uncertain. At least, among the historical records, the person who had the most attributes was the first headmaster of the magic school, my grandfather, William McClain. My grandfather could handle four attributes. It seems that the most attributes a magician from other countries could handle was also four.

My grandfather left these words:

"No matter how many attributes you have, it doesn't necessarily mean you are excellent."

I agreed with my grandfather's words. No matter how many attributes you have, if you can't use them properly, they are meaningless. The lifespan of a human is at most eighty years. If we calculate the number of years a magician can be active, it's about forty years at most.

In that time, it's very difficult to master the 'Magic Language' for each attribute—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Controlling magic power is also difficult. It's not easy to master multiple magics.

If you only half-heartedly practice, you'll end up only being able to use beginner-level magic for each attribute, and the precision will vary.

To live as a magician, I hope you will think carefully and seize your future.

"Wow, this is pretty heavy stuff..."

Could Gillon be trying to make me a magician?

Well, I think it's important to have the right mindset when dealing with the power of magic, but I'm just a five-year-old.

While thinking this, I skimmed through similar phrases and theories.

Before I knew it, the sunset was shining through the room, and night was about to fall.

"It's already evening. I've been reading for a while."

I closed the book with a thud and stretched.

My eyes felt tired from reading for so long.

While rubbing my eyes, I suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, right. I forgot about the goblins!"

I quickly stood up and headed to my father's office.

I could see the butler moving the furniture from my room back into the mansion through the window in the hallway. I really wanted to help, but with my weak strength, I could only carry books, and now wasn't the time for that.

I apologized in my heart and ran down the hallway.

"Father, it's Jed."

"Hmm? Jed... Come in."

When I knocked, my father's puzzled voice came back. I got permission, so I entered the room.

"Sorry to bother you."

"Jed, what is it?"

My father, who was working at a large, high-quality desk, opened his mouth while still holding a pen.

"Um, there are goblins in the western forest!"

"Did someone see them?"

"..."

I just wanted to report that goblins were nearby, but now I realize I can't explain it.

How do I explain it? "Jed, the birds told me!" No, that's out. I'll be treated like a weirdo. What do I do?

While I was frozen, my father furrowed his brow and then smiled gently, as if he understood something.

Huh? What? What conclusion did my father come to?

"Well, if you want to play, just say so. I'll be done with work soon, so wait for me."

My father smiled proudly, as if he had said something good.

Father, that's not it.

"No, it's nothing."

Feeling a bit empty, I left the room.

"…What's up with Jed? I haven't played with him much lately. Maybe I should play with him next time."

That night and the next day, the goblins didn't appear and no one saw them.

Still, I was worried, so I decided to go to the forest.

During this time, I was learning magic control from Gillon.

I can activate magic, but it consumes a lot of magic power. The magic power that humans can use by speaking 'Magic Language' is limited. You combine the magic power in the air with your own magic power to activate it. The main subject is yourself.

So, while 'Magic Language' is often considered the main subject, you must not neglect the refinement of magic power.

It's important, Gillon said passionately.

However, since I had hardly handled magic power before, I ended up focusing on the pronunciation, emphasis, and rhythm of 'Magic Language.'

Seeing this, Gillon shouted, "I don't get it. That's wrong. It's a shortcut!"

The 'All Language Understanding' ability came in handy in an unexpected way.

Moreover, it seems I have a lot of magic power.

Merilina-sama said that I have more magic power and physical ability than ordinary people. I thought it was just an excuse, but it's good to know it's true.

At least, I can protect myself now.

I have a contract with the birds to keep watch and guide me, with their bellies full of white bread.

They are reliable birds.

N-Next time, will they...?
