Side Story: Memories of the Boss – Perchetta’s Perspective (3)

Still imitating a hunter as always, or rather, it seemed like she was even more dedicated to hunting to the point where rumors circulated that she might be surpassing the professionals. I recall the hunter who frequented our house had casually mentioned Ral hunting down a red-haired giant bear all by herself. However, it was troublesome to hear stories like that, considering she wasn’t even a hunter but seemed to be hunting prey with such ease. We may have been kids before, but now we’re adults, and we must adhere to the rules of adults. I learned the significance of rules during those mischievous days of childhood. There was no way Ral didnt know that.

In reality, Ral seemed to reduce the frequency of hunting after that. By the time she turned 15, Ral had truly become a beauty, and perhaps due to the demands of her role as a Baron’s daughter, she started dressing more elegantly. As a result, it became widely acknowledged throughout the region that she was the most beautiful woman around. Of course, people hadn’t forgotten Ral’s mischievous deeds from her days as a little Boss, but still, there were many men, ranging from much older to younger than Ral, who desired to marry her. Just at the time when everyone was speculating and getting excited about who would become Ral’s husband, that man appeared.

The news was shocking. It turns out Ral was going to marry and move to the imperial capital. The entire territory was in an uproar, to say the least. Not a single person was without astonishment. Even I was surprised. At the same time, I was angry. ‘What?! Are you planning to take our boss with you?!’ I thought.

Apparently, the plan was for Ral to leave the territory within a few days. She came to bid me farewell, and she seemed lonely, saying, “There’s no choice; it was decided by my parents.” That was when I learned for the first time that Ral’s real parents were not actually the Kiggs’s but rather Nobles residing in the imperial capital. It turned out that Lal’s parents from the capital had arranged the marriage.

Certainly, it’s the parents’ role to decide on a marriage, but I couldn’t tolerate Ral being forced into a marriage she didn’t agree with. However, Ral said,

“Even if I reject this marriage, it seems like any other potential marriage would also lead to becoming a bride in the imperial capital.”

It seems she thought it would be better to marry the man who came to fetch her this time. Along with the boiling anger inside me, I thought it wasn’t like our boss to accept such an unreasonable situation, no matter how strong the other party may be.

I was so angry that I went out of town and entered a tavern, where I found many of Ral’s underlings in tears of frustration as well. We drank in anger at the unreasonable marriage forced upon Ral and lamented the inadequacy of our own henchmen. Then someone said,

“We must protect our Boss!”

“We must protect our boss!”

“We must drive back the man from the capital!”

We were all fired up. But according to the story, the man who came for Ral was a knight of the capital. The knight is a nobleman. As expected of the boss, to be desired by a nobleman, and at the same time, we are frightened because we know that if we do something to the nobleman, it’s going to be a terrible thing. We had never seen a nobleman, but we had been told repeatedly by our parents since we were kids that we must not disobey them.

Directly confronting them or ambushing them might lead to serious consequences. However, we couldn’t let them take Ral away. We pondered over it and came up with an idea. Yes, that’s it. What if it doesn’t appear as it is? That’s what we thought.

In other words, if we block their path or give them a good beating, it would be a problem. But if we pretend to welcome them, swallow our frustrations, prevent them from leaving by making them unable to wake up in the morning, or beat them up under the guise of entertainment during a drinking party, wouldn’t it be fine? That’s what we thought. When we came up with this idea, we thought it was a genius idea.

Fortunately, I heard that there would be a farewell party at Ral’s house the day before his departure. That’s convenient.

We got the women who were sad to say goodbye to Ral involved in this plan. We would make the banquet at Ral’s house into a larger scale festival and create a rude atmosphere. Then we would make the nobleman from the imperial capital drink so much that he would lose the ability to stand on his feet and legs, and then beat him to a pulp after his memories become unclear. Even the most aristocratic of men would not know who did this and would not hold us accountable.

No, now I understand. If we did something like that to a noble, it wouldn’t be surprising if the entire village was burned down. The lord of this territory is a good person, but the people who fled from the neighboring territory called their lord a demon.

Anyway, we turned the feast on the day before Ral’s departure into a festival without hearing our Boss stop us. Now that I think about it, we knew we had to say goodbye to Ral, so I guess we wanted to send her off with a big party. Stalling them here would not make the marriage proposal go away.

The women were eager to see the beautiful Ral in her bridal gown. They procured a magnificent bridal gown from somewhere and put it on Ral. We were amazed when we saw it. Any woman looks 50% more beautiful in a bridal gown, but Ral’s original beauty made her look more amazing. I felt like my eyes were going to be crushed if I looked at her directly. I thought to myself afterward that there were such beautiful things in the world.

And then there was a guy named Mia, who was going to be Ral’s husband, and he was so beautiful. He had light brown hair, long blue eyes, and a face like a woman, but he was a huge man. The sleeves of the groom’s costume he had borrowed from someone else were very short, and he was uncomfortable. The way he looked at Ral was soft, gentle, and happy. Ral didn’t seem to mind standing side by side with him. Seeing that, we were extremely angry. Well, jealous. I guess we were all in love with her after all.
