Chapter 89

4 min read1,027 words

Starting from the capital and Brünhild, I gathered slaves from several major cities.

For warehouse management, 8 people; for skinning, 3 people; for agriculture, 4 people; and for security, 10 people.

Those who had families were bought along with their families, and in total, I purchased 42 slaves.

Then, I gave the transfer bracelets to Carla, Peron, Clara, and Pritz.

I had already given one to Feeria.

These transfer bracelets allow teleportation to and from Brut Island and the capital's mansion, and they are registered to the individual, so no one else can use them.

"This is the base in the capital... It's huge."

"The Margrave Brützels family gave us this mansion."

The Margrave Brützels family owned three mansions in the capital, but since one is being used by my older brother Jimnis, I received this mansion, which is not used much.

Of course, I paid the price even though we are family.

"It seems they prepared it for Grandfather's retirement, but he hardly uses it."

"Indeed, the Margrave Brützels family. To have a mansion in such a prime location in the capital and not use it..."

Currently, Luna is inspecting the mansion with a few maids.

Luna, who was my personal maid, officially decided yesterday to come with me to take care of me as I establish my independence.

"Luna, this is Clara. She will assist me in this mansion, so please consider her your superior. She will be living here, so please prepare a room for her."

"My name is Clara Hekart. Please call me Clara, Luna-san."

"Nice to meet you, Clara-sama. You can call me by my first name."

How to address Luna is up to Clara, so I'll leave it to them to adjust.

Luna takes Clara to show her the rooms.

"Sir Christophe, everything is ready."

"I'm coming."

His name is Federer Torres.

He is the deputy commander of the Margrave Brützels family's knight corps and my sword instructor.

Although my sword skills are not very good.

Federer is transferring to my household as I establish a new family.

He will go from having thousands of subordinates to only about a hundred in my household.

I'm grateful he agreed to such conditions.

In addition, there are Gail, a human who managed my guard knights; Revis, a lazy human; Wick, a sadistic tiger beastman; Job, a serious celestial; Primera, a nimble cat beastman; Javan, a squire and eagle beastman; Lars, a knight apprentice and bird beastman; Ben, another knight apprentice and human; and Elmerda, an elf from the magic corps, who are all transferring to my household.

A few clerks who worked in the royal castle are also transferring.

For the rest, I will need to hire new personnel, but since I haven't established my household yet, I can't publicly recruit at the moment.

Now, I am heading to the training ground to meet the knights transferring from the Margrave Brützels family.

"Thank you all for coming to my aid. I believe you've already heard from Federer, but the new household will not have a knight corps or a guard corps. I will assign ranks, and you will be given tasks according to your rank. I understand this might be confusing at first, but I hope you will get used to it."

Since my territory is only Brut Island, and Carla has full authority over the island's security, they will be responsible for the security of the capital's mansion and my personal protection.

Therefore, to clarify the hierarchy, I decided to use ranks instead of distinguishing between knight corps and guard corps.

The ranks are as follows, similar to the military ranks used in Western European countries on Earth:

- Enlisted: Private Second Class, Private First Class, Senior Private

- Non-Commissioned Officers: Corporal, Sergeant, Sergeant Major

- Junior Officers: Warrant Officer, Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Captain

- Field Officers: Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel

- General Officers: Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, General, Field Marshal

I am not a military enthusiast, so the accuracy of these ranks is not important. The key is to have a clear hierarchy and a system in place.

For now, a squad consists of 10 people, a company of 10 squads, and a battalion of 10 companies, so we can only form a company-sized unit.

In the future, as the number of personnel increases, it will be easier to expand with this framework in place.

The ranks and duties of the transfer personnel are as follows:

- Federer Torres: Brigadier General and Commander

- Gail Fubis: Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Commander

- Revis Atrey: Major and Company Commander

- Wick: Captain and Squad Leader

- Job: First Lieutenant and Squad Leader

- Primera: Second Lieutenant and Squad Leader

- Javan: Sergeant Major

- Lars: Corporal

- Ben: Corporal

- Elmerda: First Lieutenant and Squad Leader

Basically, my guard knights will transfer over, and I also brought in promising talents.

Elmerda was part of the Margrave Brützels family's magic corps, but when I asked my father for Rosaria, the captain, he refused. So, I asked for a talented individual, and he recommended Elmerda.

By the way, this is how it will be for Carla and the others:

- Carla Adachi: Major and Brut Island Defense Chief

- Peron Cook: Captain (Special Treatment) and Brut Island Production Chief

- Pritz von Hekart: Captain (Special Treatment) and Brut Island Supplies Chief

- Clara Hekart: Captain and Capital Strategy Room Chief

- Feeria: Special Duty Major and Guard Chief

The "Special Treatment" for Peron and Pritz indicates that they are not part of the military, but their magic, which I trained them in, is top-notch, so they can act quickly in emergencies.

As for Clara's role as the Capital Strategy Room Chief, it means she will be the liaison with the royal family and the nobility.

I believe Clara is surprisingly good at such tasks, so although it's a challenging role, I hope she will do her best.

There are other tasks I will assign her, but that's for later.

Feeria's rank, Special Duty Major, means she is a Major, but she has the authority to refuse orders from anyone except me.
