Hanhai City
This city was built by the sea and thrived because of it. Relying on its natural geographical advantages, it has not been affected by the wars inland for hundreds of years, nestled in one corner, watching the changes on the continent with a calm and steady pace, earning its own small fortune.
The city is not large, with a population of just over ten thousand, and nearly a thousand Soul Masters, most of whom have awakened sea-related Spirit Souls, known as Sea Soul Masters.
Soul Masters, Sea Soul Masters.
Invisibly, this drew a line between the city and the mainland.
Like the saying "oranges in the south and citrons in the north," apart from some large organizations such as the Spirit Temple, Soul Arenas, and the caravans traveling back and forth, most people have never been to the inland areas.
After all, due to the differences in climate and environment, there are significant differences in culture, customs, living habits, and even the Spirit Souls of Soul Masters.
To put it bluntly, there is no common language, and this era does not have social media.
You laugh at me for being a landlubber who has never seen the sea, and I laugh at you for eating three meals of white rice every day, not even knowing what a noodle is.
Free from the vortex of interests of the major empires inland, life in Hanhai City is much more leisurely. The Spirit Temple and the City Hall coexist peacefully, each performing their duties, with a sense of laissez-faire governance.
Of course, at one time, the Spirit Temple wanted to seize more power, but it was helpless against the unique beliefs passed down from generation to generation by the local people.
Compared to the ethereal angelic gods, they prefer to believe in the Sea God who guards the four seas!
The Sea God Island, the legendary land of the gods, did not even show its face in the battle for faith, yet it crushed the Spirit Temple to the point of being severely wounded.
You can help me awaken my Spirit Soul and give me money, but if you want me to abandon my faith in the Sea God,
Then today, only one of us can live.
According to the teachings of the elders, those who are abandoned by the Sea God will never return alive from the sea.
And no matter how much benefit the Spirit Temple offers, it cannot stop the brave young men from going out to sea to strive, for the sea harbors the greatest treasures of this world, wealth, power, and strength, everything in this world is there!
More importantly, the Soul Rings of Sea Soul Masters are mostly obtained from the Soul Beasts in the sea.
They cannot leave the sea and are unwilling to give up the protection of the Sea God.
No matter how good the angelic gods are, the sea is not their domain.
This religious struggle was destined to end in the defeat of the Spirit Temple from the beginning. After realizing there was no hope of turning the tide, they became peaceful.
Unfortunately, life is never smooth sailing, and peace is often only temporary.
Rumble!!
Thunder roared on a clear day, the sound like a great bell ringing in the ears.
The residents of the city were all startled. They looked up to see the thunder growing louder and more intense, with lightning piercing the sky, the white light so intense it seemed to stab into the eyes.
The clear blue sky was gone, replaced by thick black clouds and strong winds surging from the horizon, heavy and oppressive like a city in the sky!
Black clouds press down, the city is about to crumble!
The experienced elders who had lived by the sea all their lives were also stunned, unable to speak, and could only be supported by their children into the rooms to hide.
The raindrops stung the skin, and the alarm bells in the city had already sounded. Soul Masters and soldiers with official duties ran around, warning everyone to close their doors and not go out.
Several high-rise buildings had already been struck by lightning.
Fortunately, the heavy rain brought by the strong wind contained the fires.
Disaster, disaster!
Disasters always come so suddenly, and peaceful life is as fragile as a thin mirror, shattering into pieces at the slightest touch, never to be restored.
At the port, the seawater had already overflowed the originally tall flood barrier. In the distance, a small figure could be seen standing on the barrier, gazing at the raging sea.
"Lord Mayor!" A Sea Soul Master came to the man's side, "The water level is still rising. Should we organize the residents to evacuate?"
"Such a fierce storm, Soul Masters can handle it, but ordinary people can't even leave the city gates!"
The mayor sighed, "A natural phenomenon, the sea is determined. Such a sudden change is probably caused by a Sea Soul Beast."
"Soul Beast?!" The Sea Soul Master was shocked, unable to imagine what kind of powerful Soul Beast could cause such a storm.
What can we do to resist it?
"Pass the order, including the Spirit Temple, gather all the Soul Masters to reinforce the flood barrier. The rest... is beyond our control." The mayor sighed again.
"Trust in the protection of the Sea God."
Thousands of miles away,
"Beast! If you dare to come any closer to the coast, I will kill you! This is your last warning!"
A man of extraordinary build stood in the air, a shadowy figure of a human form appearing behind him. Under the protection of the shadow, even the most violent winds and waves could not reach him.
The scene before him was a natural disaster!
A water spout connected the sea and the sky, the wind currents emanating from it as sharp as knives. The seawater swirled, forming a deep, bottomless vortex like a gaping abyss, ready to swallow everything.
Above the sky, the clouds were broken. Strangely, black clouds kept rising along the spout, pushed by the wind to the distance, generating terrifying thunderstorms.
The sound of the wind, rain, and thunder!
This was a tragic battlefield, each roar like the dying wail of a giant, venting ancient fury.
In the face of a natural disaster, humans should be incredibly fragile, but as the water spout approached, the man did not retreat, his eyes blazing with a terrifying light. Nine light rings, eight black and one red, suddenly burst from his body, and the shadow behind him grew, transforming into a giant that reached the sky!
"Looking for death!"
A trident appeared in the giant's hand, piercing through the water spout without regard for the wind, rain, and lightning.
A wave of blood rose, and a painful roar came from inside the spout.
The giant twisted the trident and pulled it outward with great force. At the same time, a blue light spread out from him, and wherever it reached, the seawater calmed down.
Within the blue circle, the wind and rain were peaceful. Outside the blue circle, the flood was raging.
The stark contrast between the two could only be described as a miracle!
What was even more terrifying was that as the trident was pulled out, a dragon-like creature was revealed, pierced through its body.
It looked like a dragon but had short horns. Its neck had white patterns, its back had blue patterns, its chest was ochre, and its body had colorful scales like brocade. It had four legs, and its tail tip had a hard, fleshy spike.
Most distinctive were the raised fleshy bumps between its eyes.
The mayor of Hanhai City was right; the cause of all this disaster was this dragon-like creature!
"Poseidon!" The dragon struggled to free itself from the trident, dodging the giant's large hand, its belly already torn and bloody. "I have worked hard for ten thousand years! Today, I am ascending to become a dragon, and you stop me? Is your Sea God Island really so tyrannical? Don't forget! Even with the Sea God backing you, this vast sea is still the domain of the sea creatures!"
"Beast!" Poseidon roared, "If you had been content, I wouldn't have cared whether you became a dragon or turned to ashes! But you deliberately caused a storm, and countless people have already died because of you. Now, you even want to flood the city. Do you really think the Sea God Island doesn't exist?!"
"Hah," the dragon sneered, "You humans slaughter my kind day and night, and we are not allowed to retaliate? What Sea God, what Sea God Island. In the end, you are just a bunch of selfish hypocrites!"
"Today, I will flood Hanhai City and sacrifice tens of thousands of human lives to the sea creatures to help me become a dragon!"
"Even if the Sea God himself comes, he cannot stop me! I said it!!"
