Chapter 74

This is a short story I once sent to someone.

It has been almost a year since then, and with no progress in writing, I have decided to make some revisions and publish it here.

Although the timing is quite different, I hope you enjoy it.

"Hey, what's up, bro? You called me all of a sudden."

"I'm not free either, so let's get this over with quickly."

Skalgo, who had invited (or rather, summoned) Katatsu and Maimei to his room, took a deep breath dramatically before starting to speak.

"I didn't gather you two for any other reason. I heard an interesting story from Uncle."

"From Uncle?"

The siblings exchanged glances.

The image of Ops that came to mind was that of a demon with a terrifying background.

Of course, in Skalgo's loving perspective, Ops was more like an angel, and he was unaware of the vast gap between him and the two.

"Apparently, in the place where Mother grew up, there was an event called 'Mother's Day.'"

As Skalgo savored the idea as if tasting something sweet, Katatsu and Maimei made sour faces, as if they had bitten into a bitter bug. They both sighed inwardly, thinking that their brother's mother-fixation was starting up again.

"So, what kind of festival is this?"

"It's not like Mother's birthday, right?"

The two, being true (or so they claimed) Reideil natives, were unfamiliar with the term. Reideil didn't even have Father's Day, so it was no wonder they didn't know.

"It's a day when children prepare a sumptuous meal to show their utmost gratitude to the mother who gave them life and to praise her for her daily hard work!"

At the sight of Skalgo, who seemed to be enveloped in a symphony of the highest quality and a mystical light descending from heaven, Katatsu and Maimei remained completely unimpressed. This was, of course, the skill effect of "The Rose Falls Beautifully." The siblings, of course, ignored it completely.

Then, Katatsu raised his hand to speak.

"Sorry, bro. Isn't there a huge flaw in this plan?"

"Why? The plan is perfect!"

"First of all, if we're talking about children, Luka is needed too."

"Uh!?"

Maimei mercilessly probed her brother's inner thoughts.

The word "leniency" was not in her vocabulary when it came to her brother.

"Also, about the home-cooked meal, none of us have cooking skills. Only you can cook properly, right?"

"Ugh!?"

The younger brother was also unreserved in his criticism of his older brother.

Dwarves, by nature, were like that.

"Also, can we (bro) move from this capital?"

"Wha—!!"

Two spears pinned Skalgo to the desk.

A critical hit.

Skalgo's HP was reduced to zero.

"Well, let's go back."

"Right, I have a lot of paperwork to do, so I need to get back quickly."

The only one left in the room was a sad man, tears streaming down his face, with no solution in sight.
