Si Jun, “……”
He slowly took a breath while he kneaded the corner of his forehead that throbbed with restraint, and explained it to him again, “Blood Alliance is not a crime syndicate but an alliance organized by clans to help and restrict each other. Once you join, you’re not allowed to withdraw and all the blood clans will become aware of your Primordial species lineage.”
“Then I have to think about it,” Xia Yuzhou said hesitantly, “What’s the process if I want to join?”
The Xia family had been passed down for centuries and had never heard of any Blood Alliance. It can be estimated that these modernized species1 only set up this thing in modern society.
Old Xia2 had always vowed that they were the last blood and claimed how precious we were, never did he mention that there’s a modernized species out there. There was also no record on his ancestor’s letters regarding this. So Xia Yuzhou temporarily maintained a skeptical attitude as he didn’t know if it were really genuine or fake.
Si Jun tidied up his gloves and raised his chin slightly, “You need a recommender if you want to join.”
Geez, it’s still a member recommendation system. They must be tastefully chosen ah!
Xia Yuzhou, “Then I’ll go find Senior.”
Whether he joins or not still needs to be considered as it’s necessary in case of emergency. The child has to drink a bottle of blood everyday yet tomorrow’s ration has not yet arrived. Since the child’s teacher can even sponsor free medical treatment so sponsoring two days of “breakfast milk” shouldn’t be too much, right?
Si Jun was stunned for a moment when he heard it, “You want to find He Yu to be your recommender?”
Those words were said through clenched teeth. Xia Yuzhou looked at Si Jun suspiciously yet saw that his handsome face was still proud and noble, as calm as a still lake. So he thought it must’ve his ears playing tricks on him. “Not necessarily. I’ll go and ask him first.”
Si Jun looked at him in silence for a long time, “Suit yourself.”
The conversation that was going quite well amicably ended inexplicably.
Xia Yuzhou walked out of the office and suddenly felt a dull pain in his chest, only then did he realize that he was in a state of suffocation.
When he bit someone back then, Si Jun reacted fiercely and admonished him “not to treat humans as food”. Xia Yuzhou thought that his lover could not accept that he was not human and would be treated food so he ran away. Now he found out that the other party was also a Bloodling, the “human and ghost having different paths” that he believed ended up being a joke. Did Si Jun react so intensely because he found out that his habits were different?3
He originally wanted to ask but Si Jun was obviously not interested in talking.
Forget it, it’s been years since we broke up. What’s the point of asking this now? He helped me today so let’s just find a way to return the favor later.
He took a deep breath and sluggishly called He Yu.
“Toot, toot, toot…”
The line over there seems busy as it won’t connect.
Xia Yuzhou put away his mobile phone, turned around and walked towards the ward. Joining the Blood Alliance was no trivial matter so he had to talk to his stupid brother. According to Si Jun, the Blood Alliance is based on the “Clan.” So if he joins then his younger brother and son will also be included.
Just as he was about to walk past the public toilet entrance, he suddenly saw his brother with a mask and baseball cap being held by a doctor on his sleeve. Xia Yuzhou walked over immediately and found that the doctor looked a bit familiar.
“Tree God, my god, it’s really you!” That doctor was so excited that bounced twice on the spot, “Don’t you recognize me? It’s me, Noob!”
It turned out to be classmate Cai Chengbi who he hasn’t seen for so many years. The guy who used to have a chicken nest for hair has now become a dog.4
Zhou Shu pulled down his mask, only revealing his nose and said, “How did you recognize me?”
“Are you kidding? Even if my mother doesn’t recognize me anymore, I will still know you!” Cai Noob stuffed him a pen and held up the clipboard in his hand, “Quickly, sign for me. You lost contact with us ever since you played professional. I even bragged to my colleagues that you’re my classmate but they didn’t believe me.”
Zhou Shu looked at what was handed to him, held up the pen but didn’t sign down, and he said, “This is no good.”
“Why not?”
“This is a medical certificate.”
“……” Cai Noob was forced to look at the clipboard and gave a hollow laugh, then asked him to sign on the board directly, “Speaking of, your grades weren’t bad back then even though you played games everyday. You could’ve passed the course, why did you not finish it? How hard it is to be admitted to Medical University ah. My family thought I brought honor to our ancestors when I got into Medical University back then. How can you drop out of school without any qualms?”
“Because I suddenly had an epiphany.”
“What epiphany?”
Zhou Shu returned the clipboard to him and pulled up the face mask again, “Studying medicine can’t save the Chinese.”
Xia Yuzhou rolled his eyes, went over and slapped his brother: “You are Zhou Shu, not Zhou Shuren. Don’t always pretend to be Mr. Lu Xun.”5
When Cai Noob saw Xia Yuzhou, his smile froze over and he gasped while his body jerked back, “Xia Yuzhou? You’ve finally come back!”
Xia Yuzhou looked at him suspiciously, “What’s up?”
He and Noob don’t actually have much friendship. They have just taken the same elective class together. His reaction was so big that those who don’t know will think that Noob was his ex-boyfriend.
“Have you seen Si Jun? He searched for you for a long time. When he couldn’t find you at school he almost asked everyone he could. He also found me and pressed me to ask Tree God’s whereabouts and only later did we find that he went into ESport.” Classmate Cai said a bunch of things like ‘pouring beans out of a bamboo tube.’6
Xia Yuzhou slowly widened his eyes and turned to look at his younger brother.
Zhou Shu sneered, “Yes, he came to me. I directly told him to get lost! If my teammates hadn’t stopped me, I would have knocked his teeth out. He only came to me three months later. He didn’t even look at the time when ‘the dishes had already gone cold.’”7
The more he said, the louder his voice became. It attracted the people coming and going to the public toilet at the side to look over this way.
“What’s the matter?” Classmate Cai looked at Zhou Shu then at Xia Yuzhou. He shrunk his neck and said, “Did I say something wrong?”
Xia Yuzhou’s brows furrowed tighter and told Cai Noob that they’ll be back for a chat later. Then he pulled Zhou Shu back to the ward.
“That matter was not his doing,” Xia Yuzhou cut to the chase and said, “He’s also a Bloodling.”
”How come he didn’t do it? What’s it to him being blood, bloodling…” Zhou Shu said halfway through before reacting, “He’s a Bloodling?! How is that possible?”
His confused expression was as if having been overloaded with gibberish. Zhou Shu was dazed for a moment then said, “Fart!8 What primordial species, this is the East. Why are this brood of foreign vampires showing off? They should be called alien species!”9
Xia Yuzhou, “That’s just the way it is.”
“Damn it!” Zhou Shu took off his cap and flung it to the ground. “Si Jun, that son of a gun. What? He didn’t disdain you for being Bloodling but because the breed is no good ah!”
Breed…10
Xia Yuzhou was anxious to talk about the matter of the alliance and tried to restrain the urge to beat his younger brother. “Let’s get down to business first. The child needs to drink sterilized blood so we have to join the Alliance.”
Zhou Shu was still hopping mad, pacing back and forth in the room as if looking for a weapon to beat Si Jun with, and casually replied, “What alliance? Warcraft or LOL?”
Xia Yuzhou, “Blood Alliance.”
Zhou Shu saw the infusion rod, grabbed it and said, “There’s this game?”
Xia Yuzhou couldn’t bear it anymore and slapped his younger brother on the back of his head. After talking for half a day, this guy didn’t listen to anything besides to the “breed” issue.11
