Amidst the ruins, an ugly humanoid monster was wandering around, searching for food.
Its two fangs at the corners of its mouth were sharp and menacing, its skin a dark red with black stripes all over, and although it was over a meter tall, its limbs were extremely thick, making it look very disproportionate due to its not-so-tall stature.
If you were a frequent player of Diablo, you would immediately recognize this as a low-level monster from the game—Zombie, but its current performance was far from the weakling with only 5 combat points in the game. If an ordinary adult were to encounter it, they might be beaten to a pulp by the wooden club in its hand.
As the largest tribe in the Blood Wasteland, the Zombies were predators. They ate both plants and animals; the wild grass and hard-furred rats in the Blood Wasteland were on their menu, and even disgusting corpses could become food when necessary. Humans were considered high-grade ingredients for the Zombies.
Zombie: Level 1, Health 50, Attack 2-8, Defense 6. Combat Ability: Average. Note: They like to live in groups. It is said that they are very timid and tend to flee in battle. Singing and eating hotpot is their favorite entertainment, but I bet you don't want to be their hotpot ingredient.
This Zombie was much more robust than the one Wu Yi encountered when he first entered the Diablo world, even taller, with average combat ability, and naturally, its attributes were stronger than the weak Zombie.
"Grumble, grumble." The Zombie made sounds that were hard for humans to understand, and it disappointedly waved its wooden club, as it hadn't found good food today and could only eat wild grass to satisfy its hunger.
Just as the Zombie was distracted, the ground beneath its feet suddenly bulged, and a green shadow emerged, wrapping around it with lightning speed.
This was a vine as thick as an adult's wrist, covered in thorns, with a large mouth filled with fangs like a venomous snake. The vine looked like a green python ready to devour its prey.
The snake vine wrapped around the Zombie, and the snake head bit into the Zombie's head, muffling its terrified scream. The Zombie's dark red skin quickly turned green, and it stopped struggling after a few seconds, clearly killed by the venom. This showed how potent the snake vine's poison was.
The snake vine released the Zombie, and the corpse fell to the ground, the wounds oozing a liquid that sizzled on the ground.
Wu Yi emerged from behind a nearby rock, and the snake vine, sensing its master's approach, wrapped around Wu Yi's wrist as if seeking praise.
Wu Yi stroked the snake head, praising it, "Well done, I'm very satisfied."
Hearing its master's praise, a joyful awareness from the snake vine fed back to Wu Yi, like a child receiving a compliment.
This snake vine, which looked like a python but was actually a plant, was summoned by Wu Yi using a skill. It could burrow underground and suddenly appear next to enemies, similar to Wu Yi's Wind Walk skill. If it hit, it would inflict a terrifying poison that caused rapid health loss. After killing prey, the skill's proficiency would increase, and after several months of combat, the snake vine had grown to Level 2.
Wu Yi clearly remembered the surprised expressions of Ai Li and others when he first summoned the venomous snake vine, as this was considered a mutated skill that many high-level professionals couldn't master.
Ai Li recognized Wu Yi's talent and strength because of this, allowing him to venture into the Blood Wasteland alone.
Summon Venomous Snake Vine (Level 2 Skill): Level 2. Summons a highly venomous snake-like vine to fight for you, spreading poison to all it attacks. Vine Health 150, Defense 15, Attack 5-16, deals 6 points of poison damage per second for 3 seconds. Energy Cost 20. Combat Ability: Elite.
Next to the Zombie's grotesque corpse were two shiny gold coins, stained with the Zombie's dark red blood. Wu Yi wiped the blood off the coins and casually tossed them into his item space, having become numb to the bloody scenes.
When he first arrived in this world, Wu Yi struggled to survive due to the sudden change in environment. However, after a shift in mindset and strength, he gradually adapted to life in this chaotic world.
After several months of training with Adi, Wu Yi's physical attributes and combat skills improved, and Adi finally allowed him to enter the Blood Wasteland to hunt Zombies for gold.
A drowsy little sprite flew out of his arms, opened its small mouth, and quickly sucked in the Zombie's soul energy.
"There's only this much, not enough to satisfy me. You disturbed my sleep. Don't you know that adequate sleep is important for my skin?" the sprite complained.
Wu Yi stroked its soft fur and said lightly, "Don't worry, this is just an appetizer. There's a big meal waiting for you."
Wu Yi's target today was a Zombie tribe's camp in the ruins ahead, where there were many Zombies. The one he just killed was a lone straggler, acting as a sentry.
After calming the sprite, Wu Yi used his Wind Walk skill, which he had trained to Level 3.
Wind Walk (Level 2 Skill): Level 3. Enter stealth mode, increase movement speed by 10%, and deal 40 points of absolute damage when breaking stealth. Energy Cost 10, stealth duration 40 seconds, cooldown 20 seconds.
In stealth mode, Wu Yi quietly approached the ruins. Even though he was invisible, he still had to be cautious, as low-level Wind Walk only made him invisible to the eye, and sounds or footprints could still expose him.
Hiding behind a relatively intact wall, Wu Yi observed a group of Zombies nearby. There were over twenty of them, gathered around a campfire with a pot of strange soup.
They danced around the "hotpot" in a peculiar way unique to Zombies, speaking in demonic language, while their leader, a Zombie Mage, held a flag in one hand and a small knife in the other, dancing the most energetically.
Zombie Mages were a core part of the Zombie tribe because they possessed a god-like ability—resurrecting ordinary Zombies. This ability made the timid Zombies burst with a fighting spirit that could terrify even the bravest warriors.
As long as the Zombie Mage was alive, ordinary Zombies would fight to the death, and the Zombie Mage would resurrect the fallen, making Zombies one of the most terrifying tribes in the Diablo world.
Therefore, when fighting Zombies, it was crucial to kill the Zombie Mage first, a well-known fact in the Diablo world.
Fortunately, the Zombie tribe Wu Yi initially encountered didn't have a Zombie Mage, allowing him to defeat the timid Zombies. Otherwise, Wu Yi's bones would have long rotted or turned into a zombie.
Wu Yi planned to use the stealth effect of Wind Walk to get close to the Zombie Mage, kill the leader first, and then deal with the remaining Zombies, who would quickly collapse after losing their leader. He had successfully done this before, and even if the plan failed, he could escape using Wind Walk.
The Zombies were so engrossed in their activities that they didn't notice Wu Yi's approach.
Under the effect of Heavenly Eye, the Zombie Mage's attributes appeared before Wu Yi's eyes.
Zombie Mage: Level 2, Health 70, Fireball Attack 3-13, Defense 10. Special Ability: Resurrect Zombies. Combat Ability: Average. Note: They like to live in groups. It is said that they are very timid and tend to flee in battle. Zombie Mages are leaders of the Zombie tribe, capable of resurrecting ordinary Zombies, and the tribe won't disband as long as the Zombie Mage is alive.
Wu Yi acted decisively. As the Zombies danced around the campfire, a silver flash pierced the air, easily stabbing through the Zombie Mage's neck. As the Mage struggled, Wu Yi quickly withdrew his sword and struck again, ending its life.
While enjoying their hotpot and singing, the Zombies suddenly found an enemy who had killed their leader. They reacted like a pot of boiling water, and the Zombies around Wu Yi raised their weapons, preparing to surround and kill him.
The venomous snake vine suddenly emerged from the ground, wrapping around a Zombie and disrupting the formation of the others.
Sweep!
Wu Yi used a new sword technique he had learned from Adi, his sword becoming a crescent moon that instantly killed several Zombies in its range.
Sweep (Level 1 Skill): Level 4 (2+2). Sweep multiple targets in front, causing area damage, adding 12% strength + 18 points of damage. Energy Cost 4, cooldown 10 seconds.
After arriving in this world, Wu Yi felt his physical attributes were no longer constrained. With some training, he could improve his body, much easier than in the real world. His learning ability was also astonishing; he could slow down and reorganize Adi's attack techniques and details, learning them quickly.
Under Adi's intense training, Wu Yi's strength attribute was the highest, reaching 15, while agility, spirit, and constitution increased by 1 point each, reaching 10, 9, and 10, respectively. His combat skills also improved.
Relying on his terrifying attack and strength, Wu Yi almost ignored the Zombies' attacks, killing several that rushed at him with a single sword strike.
As Wu Yi was slaughtering the Zombies, a strong wind attacked his back, which he blocked with his sword, deflecting a sharp blade.
The attacker was a particularly strong Zombie, wielding a large knife with ease, making ordinary Zombies look like halflings in comparison.
Elite Zombie: Level 3, Health 160, Attack 5-19, Defense 25. Special Ability: Extra Strong: +50 Health, +3 Attack. Combat Ability: Elite. Note: Zombies like to live in groups. It is said that they are very timid and tend to flee in battle. Elite Zombies are important combat forces in the tribe, leading ordinary Zombies in battle and showing more courage.
This was the true leader of the Zombie tribe, the Elite Zombie!
It had been resting in a relatively intact house in the ruins and came out angrily after hearing the commotion.
The Zombies, who were on the verge of collapse due to Wu Yi's slaughter, regained the courage to continue fighting when the Elite Zombie appeared, surrounding Wu Yi more fiercely.
Wu Yi looked around and saw the dense, fierce, and grotesque faces of the Zombies, making his scalp tingle.
The venomous snake vine, which had already killed several Zombies, noticed the situation and quickly moved over, biting the Elite Zombie's arm.
The Elite Zombie felt its left arm go numb, the wound turning a terrifying green. It angrily slashed at the snake vine, leaving a deep gash, and green liquid sprayed onto the ground, corroding it.
The injured snake vine did not retreat but wrapped around the Elite Zombie, drawing all its attention.
Wu Yi, seeing the snake vine and the Elite Zombie entangled, did not miss this opportunity. His sword became a blur, piercing the Elite Zombie's vital spot.
Thrust!
Thrust (Level 1 Skill): Level 7 (5+2). Quickly thrust the sword, piercing the opponent. Attack speed +100%, adding 23% agility + 35 points of damage, ignoring 8 points of defense. Energy Cost 7, cooldown 10 seconds.
The Thrust skill, with various enhancements, reached Level 6, a significant improvement over Level 5, increasing attack speed and ignoring defense. According to the sprite, each skill level increase of 5 brought a major improvement.
Wu Yi's Thrust did not penetrate the Elite Zombie's tough, contracted muscles as usual, leaving only a deep, bloody wound.
The Elite Zombie, enraged by the Thrust, its dark red skin turning crimson, its blood boiling, and the strange symbols on its body writhing like worms, burst with explosive strength, severely injuring the snake vine, nearly cutting it in half, and it could no longer block.
The Elite Zombie glared at Wu Yi, preparing to retaliate, but saw a silver flash descending from the sky, aiming to cut him in half.
Heavy Slash!
Heavy Slash (Level 1 Skill): Level 7 (5+2). Use absolute strength to crush the enemy's defense. Adds 28% strength + 45 points of damage, and additional absolute damage based on the strength difference. Energy Cost 7, cooldown 10 seconds.
The Heavy Slash left a gruesome wound from the right shoulder to the left hip, filling the Elite Zombie with fear, as it inflicted deep damage.
After using Heavy Slash, Wu Yi followed up with a Sweep, instantly killing several ordinary Zombies and severely depleting the Elite Zombie's health.
The Elite Zombie, severely injured in a short time, panicked and turned to flee without hesitation.
With the help of the snake vine, Wu Yi easily caught up to the completely demoralized Elite Zombie and mercilessly killed it.
Seeing their leader dead, the ordinary Zombies finally stopped resisting and scattered.
