Chapter 100

"Princess, it's an emergency!"

The sound of knocking on the door was followed by a voice from outside.

"Come in! What is it?"

With Emilia's permission, one of the sailors entered. He was out of breath, as if he had run in a hurry.

"Excuse me! Princess, a ship that looks like a pirate ship is approaching ours."

(Pirate ship... I see, so I raised that flag, huh?)

"What? A mere pirate ship can be easily shaken off by our ship."

"But, the engine below... I mean, the power source is malfunctioning and not working properly..."

The sailor tried to say something, but when Emilia glared at him, he corrected himself for some reason.

(Engine? Could they be carrying something dangerous?)

I decided not to worry about their conversation and decided to watch how things would unfold.

"Damn, this engine... It demands expensive fuel but doesn't do its job. Anyway, I'm going to the deck. You stay here and wait."

Emilia also corrected herself, and while it was very pleasing to me, it also made me feel very anxious and uncertain.

BOOM!

At that moment, the ship shook violently, and the commotion grew louder.

"Princess! I have a report!"

"What now?!"

Another sailor rushed in, and Emilia, who was maintaining her balance by leaning against the wall, gruffly urged him to continue.

"The ship ahead is indeed a pirate ship, but it has also been identified as a ghost ship!"

Everyone was speechless at this news, and for some reason, they all looked at me.

(No, no, no, it's not my fault. I just said ghost ship, not a ghost ship... Well, the nuance is the same. Wow, a double flag, I'm impressed.)

"A ghost ship... a ship where ghosts and undead roam. We've encountered a rare one. But, it's troublesome. Are there any sailors who can use holy magic?"

"No!"

Emilia, with a thoughtful look, asked the sailors who had come in, and they immediately answered.

"Damn, I can't use holy magic either... However, using fire magic to scatter the undead might set our ship on fire. This is a problem."

Emilia groaned, looking as if she had bitten into a bitter bug. Perhaps it's a rule that demons, as embodiments of darkness, cannot use holy magic, which is close to the divine. As I watched the flustered Emilia, I couldn't help but swallow hard.

"Demons can't use holy magic, huh? Because they are creatures of darkness?"

"Hmm? No, they can. But, using purification magic goes against my aesthetics, so I haven't learned it."

I hung my head in disappointment at this unexpected revelation.

"Um... If I may, ghosts can be repelled with a Light spell."

"Hmm, that's useful information. Let's get to it immediately. But, how do you know such things?"

"Well, it's advice from a certain expert."

Magilka skillfully avoided mentioning the problematic senior who was the source of the information, and I understood her feelings.

"Also, Mary, didn't you learn holy magic?"

"Oh, that's right."

Magilka said this as if she were embarrassed, and I nodded in agreement. For me, who had accidentally used holy magic and caused trouble, this was a bit of a black mark. I had pushed it to the back of my mind and forgotten about it, but now I had a bad feeling. When I cautiously looked at Emilia, she was grinning evilly at me.

"Hmm, that's great! Mary, it's an emergency, I need your help."

"That's fine, but, um, how exactly should I help?"

As Emilia approached me, I broke out in a cold sweat and asked with a forced smile.

"Just go and see what you can do!"

"That's so unplanned."

At Emilia's overly impromptu words, I tried to run away, but she grabbed my shoulder.

"It's an emergency, hurry up!"

Then, she lifted me up and carried me on her shoulder like a bale of rice. As expected of a demon, her physical abilities are higher than ours humans. And, the queen... well, let's not think about that.

"Wait, wait! At least let me change!"

"It's an emergency, hurry up!"

"No, no, no!"

Emilia carried me out of the room. I realized I was in my thin nightgown and screamed. It wasn't exactly underwear, but a thin dress that left my shoulders and other parts exposed, which was embarrassing. As Emilia ran through the ship, my screams echoed away from the cabin.

The deck was in chaos. A few undead had invaded the deck, and ghosts were flying around everywhere. Looking out to sea, a dilapidated sailboat was sailing alongside us. On the deck, Lord Klaus and Professor Ix were also present. They didn't seem to be struggling, but the problem was that the undead kept getting back up no matter how many times they were cut down.

"Go, Mary! Scatter the undead. I'll protect you!"

Emilia set me down and gave me a confident order.

"Where should I start? Turn Undead is location-specific and doesn't have a wide range."

I straightened my clothes and looked at Emilia with a half-lidded eye, asking for instructions.

"Start with what you can see, one by one!"

"Right, that's what I thought."

I had anticipated her brute-force approach and let out a dry laugh as I looked around the deck. I then raised my hand toward the nearest undead.

"Desperate, Turn Undead!"

In response to my powerful words, a magical circle of light appeared beneath the undead in front of me. As the light burst forth, the undead, enveloped in it, groaned and crumbled away.

"Holy magic! Ah, Miss Mary?"

"Please don't look, Lord Klaus!"

I had been fighting the undead that Lord Klaus was battling, and he was surprised by my thin nightgown when he noticed me. I hid behind Emilia, who was standing confidently despite being in a similar state of undress, and my voice cracked from embarrassment.

"Alright, Mary! Next, we go over there."

"Please, stop carrying me! At least let me change!"

Emilia lifted me up again and started moving, heading toward a crowded area.

After several more moves, we had mostly taken care of the undead on the deck. Emilia looked at the approaching pirate and ghost ship.

"Most of them are taken care of, now let's go to the source. Mary!"

"Please, let's go back to the room and let me change. I can't get married like this..."

I covered my face with my hands and sobbed.

"Don't worry! I'm here, and no one will think anything of your small body."

"Don't call it small! I've grown quite a bit!"

I had completely forgotten that Emilia was a princess, thanks to her cheerful thumbs up.

"So, we're going to storm the ship!"

"Listen to me!"

Ignoring my protests, Emilia lifted me up and, as if it were second nature, jumped and flew through the air with her wings.

As we flew from one ship to the other, my screams echoed uselessly over the sea. It was only then that I realized, "Oh, I could probably break free with my strength." Perhaps it was a result of always trying to avoid accidentally using my strength. Well, it was too late now...
