In the silent room, a faint scent of pine permeated the air.

A metal candle holder hung on the wall, with a row of candles burning, their flickering flames shimmering slightly.

In the center of the room stood a square table, piled high with thick books. On the soft wooden bed beside it, a young man in black sat, holding a black leather book and silently reading.

The young man in black was focused, but he read very quickly, his gaze lingering on a page for only a few seconds before finishing the black leather book in a short while.

Rubbing his slightly dry eyes, the young man slowly exhaled, then closed the black leather book and pushed it aside.

"Chip, have you recorded today's goals?" the young man in black asked softly.

"Recorded. Host reading time: 4 hours and 6 minutes, 128 books recorded, information categorization in progress..." The cold voice of the smart chip echoed in his mind, giving the young man in black a sense of security, the only familiar thing in this strange world.

Slowly getting up from the bed, Su Bai walked to the window, closing his eyes to feel the gentle evening breeze.

It had been more than ten days since he had been transported to this strange world. After the initial panic, his heart had gradually calmed down. Although the smart chip in his mind constantly reminded him of his status as a穿越者 (穿越者 means "穿越者" in Chinese, which can be translated as "transmigrator" or "穿越者"), Su Bai, who knew how to adapt to any situation, could only accept his fate.

This was a world somewhat similar to medieval Europe, but filled with a fantastical aura!

The previous owner of this body was named Enzo Nightshade, the only son of Oquinn Nightshade, the lord of Kaiden City on the Cold Plains, with a proud and foolish personality.

Before the harsh winter arrived, Kaiden City went to war with the neighboring town of Great Wolf City over the ownership of an iron mine. The two armies fought fiercely, and in the end, Lord Oquinn, with his formidable personal strength, killed the lord of Great Wolf City and routed the Great Wolf City cavalry, forcing them to retreat and defend behind the city walls.

After the death of the Great Wolf City lord, his eldest son, Young Wolf "Kael Icewolf," succeeded him and vowed to avenge his father!

On the battlefield, Oquinn was invincible, and Kael knew he could not match him. Therefore, he sent an assassination squad to quietly cross the battlefield and reach the outskirts of Kaiden City. Using a low-level trick, they deceived the foolish Enzo out of the city and ambushed him in a forest.

Despite the desperate protection of his guards, Enzo was hit by two arrows and was brought back to Kaiden City in a near-death state.

Upon hearing that his only son had been assassinated, Oquinn was enraged and ordered all the Great Wolf City prisoners to be executed. He then returned to Kaiden City as quickly as possible. By that time, the real Enzo had already died, and Su Bai, who had just transmigrated and inherited his memories, had taken his place.

Knock, knock, knock!

The sudden knocking at the door interrupted Enzo's thoughts.

"Come in," Enzo said, turning around.

"Master Enzo, the lord requests your presence in the study," said a young maid in a black and white dress, with a charming face. She pushed the door open, bowed cautiously to Enzo, and then spoke respectfully.

"Alright, I understand," Enzo nodded slightly and closed the window.

As he walked down the corridor and then the stairs, the servants he encountered all bowed, but their eyes betrayed a hint of fear.

Since his only son was assassinated, the already brutal Oquinn had become even more ruthless. During Enzo's recovery, any servant who had even the slightest conflict with him was executed with extreme cruelty, and a third of the castle's servants had been replaced.

Almost all the servants lived in constant fear, praying that Enzo would be safe, for everyone knew that if the only son died, the enraged Oquinn would surely make the slaves pay with their lives.

"I'll wait for you outside, Master," the maid stopped at the door of the study.

Enzo nodded slightly and paused, listening to the sounds inside the study.

"The war with the Icewolf family is temporarily on hold, but we have already occupied the town of Wolf Fang to the north of Great Wolf City!" There were three figures in the study, and one of them, a handsome young man in silver armor, spoke to Oquinn, "To restart the war, we can use Wolf Fang as a stepping stone, transport enough soldiers, and directly attack the towns of Wolf Head and Wolf Claw!"

"Wolf Head and Wolf Claw are the resource supply points for Great Wolf City. Once they fall, the Icewolf family will be completely trapped like fish in a barrel!"

The handsome young man was named Xavier, the captain of the city guard of Kaiden City. Born in the slums, he displayed exceptional martial talent in his youth and was adopted by Oquinn. At the age of fifteen, he broke through to the knight realm and was known as the first genius on the Cold Plains.

"Xavier, your idea is good! However, you should know that if Wolf Head and Wolf Claw are attacked, the cavalry from Wolf Heart Town will certainly come to their aid. The open terrain near those towns makes the charge of the wolf cavalry formidable. How do you plan to deal with it?" Oquinn, dressed in black armor, stood with his hands behind his back and said in a deep voice.

"The wolf cavalry of the Icewolf family is indeed formidable, but the lord of Great Wolf City has already been killed by my adoptive father. Without a grand knight to lead them, the wolf cavalry alone is not a threat!" Xavier replied without hesitation, "As long as you and Uncle Tyron split your forces, one to hold back Great Wolf City and the other to deal with the wolf cavalry."

"Do you mean that both I and Tyron should go to the battlefield, leaving no one to guard Kaiden City?" Oquinn's eyes turned cold, and his tone became grim, "Don't you know that Enzo was almost killed in an assassination attempt?"

"Adoptive father, I didn't mean that!"

Xavier was suddenly startled and quickly lowered his head.

"I just think that since my brother almost lost his life, we cannot let the Icewolf family off easily. I want to capture Great Wolf City as soon as possible to avenge him."

Oquinn's expression softened slightly, and he waved his hand.

"Enzo's revenge will not be left unaddressed, but Kaiden City must be guarded."

"Then I will lead the troops to hold back Great Wolf City," Xavier said, clenching his teeth, "Let Uncle Tyron guard Kaiden City, and you lead the army to attack Wolf Head and Wolf Claw. That way, even if the wolf cavalry comes to support, it will not be a threat!"

"Can you hold back that little wolf, Kael?" Oquinn raised an eyebrow.

"I should be able to," Xavier nodded heavily and said in a deep voice, "As long as you quickly deal with the wolf cavalry, holding back Great Wolf City for a short time should not be a problem."

"Very well, it's settled then." Oquinn slapped the table and made the decision.
