"Definitely a mutant, activate the defense system." Herbert decisively issued the order, then looked at Target Eye: "Target Eye, you are the only one here who can engage the mutants in direct combat. I need you to go to the power room and resolve the issue."

Target Eye crossed his arms, ignoring Herbert's command. After a moment's hesitation, he nodded and said, "Alright, but I want double the commission!"

"I will not allow them to disturb my experiments!" For Herbert, money was not an issue.

However, just as he was speaking, a loud explosion echoed through the room. The laser security door in the corner was shredded by sharp claws, and a figure quickly crashed into the underground research hall.

"There's no need to look for them; the enemy is already here." Target Eye's feet moved, and he suddenly disappeared from Herbert's side. When he reappeared, the wide black cloak he wore was spread out like a glider skimming the ground.

From the spread cloak, Target Eye consecutively threw dozens of projectiles. He was a notorious super assassin in the underground world, capable of using almost any object as a weapon and throwing it with lethal accuracy, never missing. However, the intruder he faced was not easy to deal with.

Wearing a yellow tight suit and a black eye mask, Wolverine moved even more agilely. The projectiles Target Eye launched were accurate, but under the rapid swings of Wolverine's Adamantium claws, they were not so sturdy.

Wolverine rushed into the research hall and immediately saw the Beast imprisoned in the central cage, like a canary trapped in a birdcage. Although this "canary" was not so beautiful.

"Roar!" Wolverine's pupils glowed with a faint ferocity, and he suddenly roared loudly, accelerating towards Target Eye. The two collided in mid-air.

Ihmeil floated invisibly behind Wolverine, watching the two men tangle in the air.

Target Eye's combat awareness and skills were highly advanced, but it was clear that Wolverine was much stronger. The Adamantium claws attacked like a storm, pinning Target Eye down and preventing him from lifting his head.

Target Eye tried to launch projectiles, but they were often torn apart by Wolverine as soon as they were released. He had never encountered such a difficult opponent; the projectiles never had a chance to hit Wolverine.

No matter how accurate, it was useless. Wolverine's claws were like an impenetrable wall, blocking Target Eye's attacks.

Wolverine continued to roar and advance, and Target Eye was forced to retreat step by step. Finally, he was caught off guard and thrown several meters away.

Herbert watched in terror as Wolverine charged towards the main control panel in front of him. He gritted his teeth, knowing that it was better to destroy everything than to let Wolverine save the Beast.

He pushed the switches with both hands, and immediately, flames shot out from the corners of the research hall. Herbert had gone so far as to set up rocket launchers in his own research hall.

Wolverine watched as the security guards around him scattered like rabbits from a disturbed nest. He frowned in confusion, his ears twitching slightly. Suddenly, he looked up and saw the rockets aimed at him.

Such a mad and hateful attitude towards mutants was rare. He would rather destroy everything than see the mutants triumph.

Wolverine was deeply shaken. He made the sign of the cross on his chest, clasped his hands, and sprang forward like a spring, covering several meters in a single leap, directly heading towards the rockets.

Several metal spikes shot from Wolverine's claws, easily slicing through the two closest rockets.

However, the remaining rockets flew towards the Beast and Mystique.

Wolverine roared and darted across the air, blocking the cage in front of the Beast. He didn't have time or the thought to save Mystique; in a way, Wolverine and Ihmeil were of the same ilk.

They only cared about the safety of those around them, not the lives of others.

Neither was a savior, and they didn't have the ability to save the world. They would naturally try to save others if they could, but in a crisis, Wolverine would choose to protect his comrades first.

"Fuck!" Mystique watched as Wolverine blocked the rockets aimed at the Beast and then saw the rockets flying towards her. Her resentment was almost palpable.

Just as Mystique closed her eyes, a voice suddenly rang in her ear: "I like you..."

"Set's protective shield!" Ihmeil muttered a few incantations, and a thick, dark barrier appeared outside the cage where Mystique was imprisoned.

Combining magic with his ghostly powers was the focus of Ihmeil's recent training. He was pleasantly surprised to find that these two extraordinary powers shared some common ground.

With the enhancement of magical incantations, Ihmeil could control his ghostly powers more easily.

Using ghostly power instead of magic, the result was that the flame shield he should have cast became an invisible shield flickering with green ghost fire.

Mystique was greatly alarmed. She didn't know what type of rockets Herbert had launched, but they were likely an upgraded version privately modified by the Brand Corporation.

Such powerful rockets were difficult for even a few mutants under Magneto to withstand, let alone someone like Ihmeil, who seemed to handle it so casually.

"Who are you?" Mystique was deeply shaken. She turned to look beside her. Invisibility was not an uncommon ability among mutants. The blue scales on her face shimmered slightly, a sign of her shyness that only those familiar with Mystique would recognize.

Ihmeil floated invisibly at the same height as Mystique's cage, spitting out saliva in embarrassment. He had originally wanted to say that he liked the resentment Mystique emitted, which was more useful than fear. However, the sudden event made his tongue tie, and he only managed to say, "I like you..." The rest, "your resentment..." never had the chance to be said.

In such a helpless situation, Ihmeil naturally wouldn't reveal himself. Conveniently, Mystique didn't know who had acted, so Ihmeil felt justified in being a scoundrel and decided not to show himself to Mystique.

"Damn it, don't interfere with me!" Herbert looked at Wolverine, who was clinging to the Beast's cage, and fiercely pressed the control panel buttons, channeling the remaining electricity into the metal bars.

The X-Men's uniforms had some insulating properties, so Wolverine didn't initially feel anything wrong. However, when Herbert suddenly increased the voltage, the insulation became ineffective. He screamed in pain and released his grip, nearly falling into the chemical solution pool below the cage. Fortunately, the Beast quickly grabbed Wolverine's clothes and pulled him back.
