Chapter 94
After they left Chairman’s residence, Mrs. Sung said cautiously, “But Jiye, don’t you think it’s a problem that that young woman comes from such a poor family? The difference between the two families might be too much.”
Mrs. Sung wasn’t happy when her daughter married a man who wasn’t rich. But Mrs. Sung knew her daughter very well. Jiye was stubborn and there was no way Mrs. Sung could’ve stopped her. There were many rich and powerful families that wanted to form an arranged marriage with Jiye, and Mrs. Sung had hoped that Jiye would marry better.
But it was too late for Jiye now, which was why Mrs. Sung hoped her son would marry a woman who came from a good family.
Jiye sighed. “Mom, you’ve seen how Jihwan lived since he returned to Korea, haven’t you?”
“Well, I have, but…”
“You know… I still feel apologetic toward Jihwan for forcing him to give up his dream. Our family took away his dream once, and don’t you think that’s enough?” asked Jiye.
Mrs. Sung didn’t know what to say because she knew her daughter was right. But she still couldn’t help feeling greedy. She wanted the best for her son.
Jiye continued, “You’ll see when you see her, Mom. Eunseo is a really nice girl. She’s very kind.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. I didn’t say this when Grandfather was with us, but the truth is… Seohyun almost got hurt very badly, Mom.” Jiye told Mrs. Sung everything. When Mrs. Sung heard what happened, she turned pale. Her whole body began trembling so badly that Jiye had to take Sehyeon away from her.
Mrs. Sung stammered, “A…are you serious?”
“Why would I lie about that? If it wasn’t for Eunseo, you might have never seen Seohyun again.” Jiye continued calmly, “That’s not the only reason I like Eunseo. This is about Jihwan’s life after all. If Eunseo wasn’t a good woman, I would’ve just thanked her for saving Seohyun but tried to stop Jihwan from marrying her. But Eunseo is really a good woman. And Jihwan is totally in love with her.”
In the end, Mrs. Sung nodded, “Alright. I’m sure you know best, Jiye.”

The holidays were over. When Chairman Kwon returned to work, his secretary brought him a report. He put on his glasses and had a look.
“She went to Korean University and majored in English, so she is obviously very smart. She got good grades too. So why did she take time off from school so often?”
Chairman Kwon’s secretary answered, “I believe it was because she had to make money for her school. She got no help from her family, so she had to work for it. She finished school all by herself without getting any student loan.”
“If she didn’t take out any student loan, why does she have a debt of 20,000 dollars? How did she get into debt?”
“According to her college friend, Miss Kang Eunseo’s father died when she was 21. She had to pay for his funeral, and her stepmother didn’t help her. So she had to take out a loan for it, and she ended up collecting a lot of interest on it.”
“That makes sense. She didn’t take out a loan for something stupid like gambling,” Chairman Kwon mumbled.
“That’s correct. After she got a job, she has been paying it off diligently.”
Chairman Kwon looked over the report again and asked, “She studied English, yet she managed to get hired as a designer. How did that happen?”
“Apparently, she is very talented. She hasn’t worked for DH for very long, so she wasn’t given a lot of projects. But she worked on her own room design at the showroom recently, and it was a success. Thanks to how she used many Korean Constructions materials, our sales went up as well. I heard that the material department is planning on giving her a personal reward.”
“Oh, is that so?” Chairman Kwon sounded impressed.
It was very rare for the headquarters to reward someone from a subsidiary company. This had to mean that Eunseo managed to increase sales significantly.
When Jiye told him about Kang Eunseo, Chairman Kwon knew that this woman had to be a special person. And the more he learned about her, the more he liked her. Chairman Kwon made it this far all by himself, so he preferred a hard-working woman for Jihwan to some spoiled rich girl.
And when he saw a photo of her, he was smitten with Eunseo. She was very different from the young women nowadays who liked to wear a lot of makeup and wear expensive outfits. Despite the lack of makeup and fancy clothes, Eunseo was obviously a very beautiful woman.
Chairman Kwon realized that Kang Eunseo was the perfect woman for his grandson. Putting down the report, he ordered his secretary, “Tell the material department that I’ll be giving Miss Kang her reward in person myself.”
“Pardon?”
“Arrange a dinner with Miss Kang Eunseo, but don’t tell her I’ll be there.”
“Yes, Chairman. When should I make the reservation?”
“As quickly as possible. If she has the time, make it this evening.” Chairman Kwon was dying to meet his future granddaughter-in-law.
