The Twenty-Seventh Sentence

The man’s instructions were given quickly, and the execution was so amazing that Pu Tao could not react.

She stared at Wu Jing in a daze. “Cheng Su is coming?”

Wu Jing, who surprised her, smiled with amusement. “Yes, please pack up quickly. If you have too many things, then take what you need first. We can get the rest later on. I have all the essential furniture, and there is a supermarket nearby. If something is missing, you can ask Cheng Su to buy it with you later.”

Pu Tao asked, “Okay… Are you going to your house?”

“No, no, no,” Wu Jing shook his head. “It’s an apartment I have in Wuhou District that no one lives in. It’s not far from here.”

He moved forward and sniffed. “What’s that smell in this room? How can you live here?”

The fat man who was walking back to the room paused. However, Wu Jing was tall and sturdy, and appeared confident. It was like he was wearing a brand of armor plated with money and was blessed by being in a higher social class. He was not easy to mess with. The fat man didn’t want anything to do with him, so he went back to his room and closed the door.

Pu Tao’s mind came back and she turned around to pack up her things.

She had just gotten home when that annoying incident happened, so she hadn’t packed her luggage yet.

Pu Tao crouched down and added some clothes to her suitcase. When she zipped it up, her emotions came and tears suddenly filled her eyes. She wiped it off with her fingertips. She was not able to digest the shock for a moment, and could only blame it on being emotional.

Wu Jing came to help her with her luggage, but she said no. The man insisted on carrying it with his own hands and said, “Don’t be embarrassed. I promised Cheng Su that I’ll take you there.”

Pu Tao was deeply apologetic for bothering so many people. “I’ve really made things inconvenient.”

“Not really.” Wu Jing smiled. “I’m just dropping you off.”

…

Half an hour later, Pu Tao arrived at Wu Jing’s apartment.

At first glance, the house was uninhabited. It was spotless and free of smoke smell. The strong Scandinavian style was simple and brand new. It was very different from her old, disgusting house.

Wu Jing showed her how to use the main appliances and gave her the keys. “I asked the housekeeper to do a thorough cleaning right after the holidays, so the timing is good.”

Pu Tao took it with gratitude in her eyes.

Wu Jing told her to make herself at home. He went to the front door and made a call.

Pu Tao sat and sipped on some hot water. She vaguely heard the word “plans”. She guessed that Wu Jing was talking to Cheng Su.

Her guess was then confirmed. *:

After a while, Wu Jing walked back to the house and handed his cell phone over. “Here, Cheng Su’s on the phone.”

Pu Tao was stunned for a moment. She nodded and took over and pressed it to her ear.

The first thing she heard was the car’s navigation. Without a doubt, this sound made Pu Tao produce tears. It was suddenly hard for her to breathe. She could only lightly press on her blocked throat, breathing quietly.

Cheng Su spoke clearly and gently. “I still have about two hours until I’m there.”

Pu Tao made an “mm”.

“We’ll eat dinner together when I’m there, okay?” He said with his usual calmness.

Pu Tao replied, “Okay, focus on driving. We’ll talk when you’re here.”

“Okay.”

When he hung up, Pu Tao returned the phone and thanked him again.

Wu Jing did not stay long. He left his contact information and said goodbye.

Pu Tao was the only one left in the whole place. She rubbed the all white mug and looked around at the layout and furniture in the room. Her eyes filled with envy.

After graduating from college, she had caught a glimpse of similar apartments to this one to rent. But she would walk away without entering.

It was hard to earn money, and it was hard to endure her sh*tty situation. These were her true feelings after two years of moving around.

When people were unable to have economic freedom and settle down, they had to learn to bear it and accept things the way it was.

That’s why she had been living frugally. She was planning on buying a 40-50-square-meter apartment in the future. She did not want to have to rely on others and she wanted to do whatever she wanted in her own space.

Pu Tao drank the water and began to unpack.

She cleaned everything. The house was so large. It was roughly 120 square meters.

Once Pu Tao was done, she was out of breath. She fell onto the bed and sank into a pure white dream.

She didn’t know how long it had been when she was woken up by her cell phone’s ringing.

Pu Tao was like a jumping carp and sat straight up. Outside the window, the sun had set. She rubbed her head to smooth out her hair. She looked down at the name on the screen.

Cheng Su.

Pu Tao was awakened by these two words. She answered the phone, jumped out of bed, and ran. She couldn’t wait to go outside.

“Are you here?” Her slippers were turned upside down and she stumbled.

“Yeah, I’m downstairs,” Cheng Su said. “I have a lot of things. Are you fine coming down and helping me?”

“I’ll be right there!” Pu Tao glanced at the time from her cell phone. Then, she put her canvas shoes down and quickly shoved her feet in.

She put the key in her pocket and went straight to the elevator.

As soon as she walked out of the elevator door, she saw Cheng Su’s car.

And then she saw him.

The man stood by the car without any luggage next to him. He was waiting for her empty-handed. There was a stillness in the depths of his eyes like the setting sun that could annihilate all sad thoughts.

Pu Tao briefly paused. Afterwards, she ran towards him.

She came down in such a hurry that she was stepping on the back of her shoes. Every step made a pa-ta pa-ta sound. It was not smooth, but she didn’t hesitate to throw herself into his arms.

Cheng Su held her steadily, as if he had caught a bird returning to its nest.

Pu Tao hugged him hard and pressed her face into his chest. She had to confirm his heartbeat to prove that it was not an illusion.

And Cheng Su’s chin also found a place to stay on. He ran his hand over her hair affectionately and slowly like it was a soft field of wheat.

For a moment, Cheng Su lowered his eyes and looked for her face. “Let me see if you’re crying again.”

Pu Tao wiped against his collar a few times before she was ready to look up. “I’m not.”

Cheng Su looked at her intently, saying that it was an inspection, but it was more like he was letting go of his longing for her.

He leaned over and kissed her.

Pu Tao did not dodge it. She tiptoed and kissed him back. They made a noticeable sound.

Cheng Su held her back with one hand and sucked her lips. Pu Tao’s heart tingled. It spread to the rest of her body. She put her arms around his neck. They hugged and kissed, pressing against each other, inseparable.

The light passes through the treetops and the wind scattered. It took a while for them to separate.

Pu Tao glanced at his hands. “Where are your things?”

“In the car.”

“Why didn’t you take it out?”

“I can’t hold you when I am taking it out.”

Pu Tao’s heart was in full bloom and she laughed.

Cheng Su let her go and opened the passenger door. “You can just carry the cat bag.”

Pu Tao was slightly surprised. “Did you bring the Da Tiao?”

“Mhm.” Cheng Su bent down and took out an all-black canvas pet bag and handed it to her.

"

"

Pu Tao immediately took it with both hands.

She held the cat bag up and looked at Da Tiao through the transparent hole. She was still calm as always. Her gold pupils didn’t show any emotions.

Pu Tao poked the clear window, but did not get a response. She lowered the bag and went to Cheng Su.

The man took the luggage out of the trunk and put it on the ground.

When he closed the trunk, Pu Tao scrunched her eyebrows together and asked again, “Why did you bring Da Tiao?”

Cheng Su looked back and a smirk appeared. “It’s not fun to ask why.”

A nice surprise was about to be disclosed. Pu Tao tries to stop the smile from rising. “You want to live here? How long?” Her voice almost shook in disbelief.

Cheng Su pulled the suitcase and questioned, “Shouldn’t I go on a vacation?”

He spoke lightly to downplay it, as if this decision would not have any impacts.

“You don’t really have to, I never thought…” He was good, too good. How could he be so good? To say that he was the best boyfriend ever was not a good enough description. Pu Tao was completely shocked. Him coming all the way here was enough to make her humble, but she never thought that he still had this wonderful trick up his sleeves.

The situation right now was far more overwhelming than what she had imagined. Pu Tao did not know how to react. This man was extraordinary. He could stop her tears, and firmly knew her emotional weaknesses. It was really hard to believe. Otherwise, why was she frantic and feeling so emotionally moved? She asked, “If you’re here, then what about the store in Shan City?”

“I have someone in charge.” Cheng Su grabbed the suitcase with one hand and her shoulder with the other. He pulled her closer and leaned over. He comforted her with a smile. “Don’t worry, It wasn’t that hard to handle. It wasn’t as hard as not seeing you.”
