Chapter 10

4 min read944 words

Zolnbine brought the flower monster.

She is the new princess, surrounded by bees after me.

Her name is Man-eater.

Her face is a flower with fierce-looking teeth, her body is a tree trunk, and she has many roots like a jellyfish. She is not that big, being shorter than me, but compared to ordinary flowers, she is huge.

Could the bees be trying to extract nectar from this Man-eater too?

Perhaps they brought her because I stopped giving nectar during the drought. That was an emergency, so it couldn’t be helped.

I don’t think this Man-eater will produce such sweet nectar. Her appearance is just too intimidating.

She looks too scary.

I want to ask, "Do you have any relatives named Rafflesia?"

This flower looks like it’s ready to attack people.

Not only that, but she even threatened me.

The Man-eater let out a strange cry, "Gya-gya," directed at me.

It’s clearly hostile.

But I’ll respond maturely.

I’ll try to shake hands with her using my vines.

Let’s be friends, as fellow flower monsters.

But unbelievably, she bit through my vines.

Biting through the vines of someone you just met is not ladylike.

Not only that, but this Man-eater used her own vines to punch me. It was a sharp punch like a straight jab.

But I’m almost unscathed.

To be honest, the enemy’s power is lacking.

I feel like telling her to train by doing 10,000 punches a day with gratitude before challenging me. I’m in a higher class!

I’m not the kind of Alraune who would be defeated by a small Man-eater.

How dare she attack me so soon after meeting.

Maybe she thinks I’m in the way.

I’m getting angry. Just because she’s a flower doesn’t mean I’ll go easy on her. I have pride as a flower too.

I see that she’s trying to monopolize the bees’ love. I won’t allow that!

But I’ll be patient.

I’m the senior here.

As a senior, it’s my job to gently scold a mischievous junior.

Wait a moment.

I just remembered that annoying junior trainee saint who stole my fiancé, the hero, and framed me for murder.

She deserves to die, to be killed.

There’s no need for another princess of the forest.

I will make the bees happy!

Once I decide someone is an enemy, I won’t hold back.

I capture the Man-eater with my vines.

My vines are thicker, longer, and more numerous.

I forcibly tear the Man-eater’s body apart with my vines. I have incredible strength.

The Man-eater was no match for me.

Now, I’ll hide the evidence so the bees don’t notice.

I open the mouth of the bulb and throw the Man-eater in.

Chomp, chomp.

Now peace is restored.

When the bees came to patrol, they looked at me curiously but didn’t mention the missing Man-eater and left. Maybe the honey I gave them as a bribe worked.

After that,

My body started to change.

I felt new buds growing from my vines.

This is a new sensation.

I tried to make the vines grow rapidly, like using a healing spell, and look, a Man-eater flower bloomed on my vine.

What is this!?

Why is a Man-eater growing from my vines?

Could I be related to Rafflesia?

I tried growing it on other vines.

And sure enough, I can make Man-eater flowers bloom freely.

This must be it.

I’ve incorporated the Man-eater’s power into my body.

I’ve eaten many animal-type monsters before, but I’ve never been able to do this.

So, if I eat plant-type monsters or other trees and flowers, I can probably acquire their abilities and characteristics.

So, let’s do an experiment.

I pull up a weed with yellow flowers growing nearby and eat it with my lower mouth.

Munch, munch, gulp.

When I put effort into my vines, a yellow flower bloomed.

It’s the same as the weed.

This is definitely it.

I can absorb and control plants.

Maybe it’s because I can make plants grow rapidly with healing magic.

Or perhaps I used the power of a saint to the limit, and through super healing, I absorbed and assimilated the flower monster. I don’t know the principle, but I shouldn’t waste this ability.

Let’s call this ability "Plant Generation."

After that, I ate all the nearby plants and converted them into my power.

More weapons are better.

However, they are just plants.

There aren’t many that can be used in battle.

The most useful is when I swallowed the tree next to me whole and could change my vines to resemble its trunk.

This tree was quite tall, and its branches cast a shadow, so I could only get about half the sunlight.

I always found it annoying, but now it’s gone.

There are no more troublemakers stealing my sunlight. I’m happy.

So, my daily life returned.

As the princess of the forest, I offer nectar to the bees and receive food from them.

When it rains, I raise my hands in joy and the next day, I whisper that I want more water.

While living like this, the thing I feared finally happened.

A new offering from the bees.

It’s not just an animal or an animal-type monster, nor is it a new flower monster.

A human child was brought to me, and it’s still alive.

Bees, where did this child come from?

It’s definitely kidnapping. I don’t want to become a criminal!

What should I do with this child?

Really, what should I do?

Swallowing the words "nutrient deficiency," I hugged my head with my vines.

Your support encourages me to keep going.

Thank you for reading.

Next time, the first human.
