Chapter 10 - Victory and Escape (Heroes Escape)

When the bell rang for the conclusion of the match, I turned off the i-VIS under my mask. Then my character, Shadow Blue, disappeared and returned to the digital space.

"Fu, so tired. This is not something I'm used to doing."

Just as I took a breath, a tremendous shock enveloped my body.

It was the sound of cheering. Everyone in the audience is shouting in excitement, even though it had been quiet earlier. And the cheers were directed at me.

"Hahaha. Thanks."

I responded with a wave of my hand, and the cheers became even stronger.

...... Well, I guess it was not so bad to receive cheers, huh? I really feel like a hero.

“Ugh, damn ......."

Amidst the cheers, I heard a frustrated voice mixed in. The owner of the voice was a player called ryo, who I just beat.

He was so shocked that he fell to his knees and groaned. He's a mischievous guy, but his passion for this match seemed to have been genuine. I felt sorry for him, but this was the result of a serious match.

I tried to leave coolly, thinking that my encouragement would only make him miserable, but someone appeared to block my way.

[Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! Ninja Boy, that was a great match! Can I interview you?]

"Whoa!"

Suddenly, a flashy brother with sunglasses on spoke to me. He was wearing flashy, conspicuous clothes and had a microphone in his hand.

I'd seen this guy a few times in online articles...... That's right, he was a popular Re-sports commentator these days.

So this was a hero interview. As someone who admires heroes, I didn't feel bad, but I don't plan to stay here long, so I'd better get out of here.

“No, I don't do interviews.”

[Do you have a pro license? I've never seen anyone in the country do something like that!]

“Eh, ah, no. I'm not a professional. Yes."

I couldn't help but answer. This is the power of a professional commentator, I must admit.

[WAO! It's amazing that an amateur can beat a professional player like ryo! The Re-sports community is going to love this!]

“He was a professional.......”

I think it was ...... possible to get a pro license even for a guy who played like that but come to think of it, does the pro license have anything to do with how good you were at the game? I'm pretty sure it was based on tournament results, video views, and social media followers. That was why there are pros who weren't strong enough. No wonder Ginjo-san has a hard time finding strong players.

[By the way, do you plan to get your pro license? Do you have any plans to participate in tournaments in the future?]

"Wait, so many questions......."

I was caught by an overbearing interviewer and was unable to move. The person who rescued me from my predicament was the person who had brought me here in the first place.

“I'm sorry, but could you please leave it at that?"

As soon as Ginjo-san came to the ring and said that, the actual person who had been pestering me suddenly changed his attitude and backed away. As expected of the daughter of the Ginjo Corporation, her power of speech is different.

"Thank you for your hard work. That was a wonderful match.”

"There you are. Anyway, can I go home now? Real heroes leave without being interviewed after the fight, I guess.”

“Yes, of course, you can leave. Thank you for your time.”

Ginjo-san let me go very easily. It's scary when things go so smoothly.

“Huh? Is it really okay? I'm going straight home, okay?”

“Yes, it's okay. I'll take care of the rest.”

“Okay, well….. see you at school?”

“Yeah, see you at school.”

I said goodbye to her with a smile on my face and strolled out of the venue with the crowd staring at me.

No, it was not easy being the center of attention.

Afterward, I took off my mask in a secluded place, shoved it into my bag, and took the linear metro subway home alone.

By the way, I haven't looked at the Internet news. I would have fainted in agony outside if there was anything on it about me.

“Sigh, nevertheless, I'm so tired.......”

The match itself was not that tiring, but the pressure of fighting in front of people was more than I expected. Well, I guess I won't have to go through that again. I'd learned that I'm just fine being a hero in the game.

I decided to spend tomorrow as usual and fell into a deep sleep in my seat.
