The entire bun shop was silent, and everyone looked at Lin Yu with strange eyes.

Huang Mao secretly admired him, thinking, "What a capable person, to have such a beautiful wife and still be able to deny her so easily."

Lin Yu was initially surprised, then puzzled. This young man, He Jiarong, looked ordinary; how could he have married such a beautiful wife?

Seeing the BMW X5 outside, Lin Yu immediately guessed what was going on. It seemed that He Jiarong was a rich second generation. This made things easier; paying off a loan of a few hundred thousand yuan would be a piece of cake.

"Dear... dear, I was just joking around, I just woke up," Lin Yu said with a forced smile, still not used to calling her "wife." He continued, "I owe these people a bit of money. Give me my bank card so I can withdraw some money to pay them back."

"Bank card? Do you have a single cent in your bank card?" the woman in the long dress said coldly.

"Huh? Where is my savings, then? Did you keep it for me? Could you take some out to pay them back?" Lin Yu was puzzled, thinking that this rich second generation must be a henpecked husband.

"Savings?"

The woman in the long dress laughed coldly and said angrily, "When have you ever had savings? For the past twenty years, you've been eating and drinking at our expense. When have you ever earned a single cent?"

The bun shop became even quieter, and the people looked at Lin Yu with even stranger eyes.

Huang Mao admired him even more, thinking, "What an idol, not only did he marry such a beautiful wife, but he also lives off her!"

Lin Yu's face was filled with embarrassment. Now he understood; this man was not a rich second generation but a parasite living off his wife.

"Son, thank you for your kindness, but you don't need to help me pay this money. I can handle it myself," Lin Yu's mother quickly intervened to help him out.

"Auntie, I'm Lin Yu's good brother. I will definitely help you pay this money. Please give me some time," Lin Yu said, hardening his resolve.

Since He Jiarong lived off his wife, Lin Yu felt embarrassed to ask the woman in the long dress for money. He had to find another way to help his mother pay the debt.

Lin Yu then wrote an IOU, pressed his fingerprint on it, and handed it to Huang Mao.

Seeing that Lin Yu's wife drove such a nice car, Huang Mao wasn't worried about him not being able to pay back the money. He left with his gang, casting greedy glances at the woman's white, slender legs before he went.

"I won't help you pay this money," the woman in the long dress said coldly. She was surprised that this wimp had suddenly become so righteous, running over to pay off his friends' debts as soon as he woke up.

"Don't worry, I can pay it back myself," Lin Yu said, slightly annoyed. This woman was indeed beautiful, but her attitude towards her husband was too harsh, openly criticizing him in front of others.

"Son, why are you doing this? I can pay off these debts myself," Lin Yu's mother said, her eyes welling up with tears. She couldn't remember her son ever mentioning such a good friend.

"This is what I should do, Auntie. Lin Yu is gone, and from now on, I will be your son. I will take care of you until the end," Lin Yu said, his eyes also welling up with tears. His mother was right in front of him, but he couldn't reveal his identity, causing her to suffer so much. This was truly unfilial.

"Auntie, I'll come see you again tomorrow."

Before the tears could fall, Lin Yu said this and quickly walked out. As he reached the door, he suddenly paused and choked out, "Auntie, if Lin Yu were to know, he would definitely not want you to take your own life. You should cherish your life and live well, living for both of you."

After saying this, Lin Yu didn't hesitate and walked out of the bun shop.

Lin Yu's mother was stunned, staring at his back in a daze.

The woman in the long dress glanced at Lin Yu's mother, said nothing, and followed him out.

In the car, the woman in the long dress said unhappily, "I don't mind you being the good guy, but you should at least tell me when you wake up. Do you know how much effort I put into finding you?"

"Sorry, it won't happen again," Lin Yu said coldly, his mind preoccupied with his mother.

Seeing his cold expression, the woman in the long dress couldn't bring herself to say more. She glared at Lin Yu, shifted into gear forcefully, and drove back to the nursing center.

The doctor gave Lin Yu a full physical examination, which showed everything was normal, and then processed his discharge.

On the way back, Lin Yu looked at the woman's delicate profile, feeling a bit surreal. Suddenly having such a beautiful wife was hard to adapt to.

He also felt guilty, wondering if it was right to take over someone else's body and wife.

The thought of sharing a bed with the woman made his heart race.

He wanted to ask her about her and He Jiarong, but he didn't even know her name and was afraid of being seen as abnormal, so he didn't say anything.

Lin Yu thought about pretending to have amnesia, but if she treated him so poorly even without amnesia, he feared she would abuse him even more if he pretended to have lost his memory.

The woman's phone rang, and she answered it briefly before hanging up. She then parked the car by the roadside, took out a hundred yuan, and handed it to Lin Yu, saying, "There's an emergency at the clinic. I have to go back. Take a taxi home. My parents are at home."

"I'll go with you to the clinic and see if I can help," Lin Yu hesitated, thinking it would be awkward to go home without knowing what her parents looked like.

Help?

The woman in the long dress gave him a cold look. The idea of help coming from a parasite was laughable.

The car stopped in front of a community clinic called Huaan Clinic. The clinic was small, with only a dozen staff members, but it looked quite professional.

As soon as the woman in the long dress entered, a male doctor with glasses ran over and said urgently, "Director Jiang, please come quickly. The child has had two doses of fever-reducing injections, but her head is still burning, and her voice is hoarse from crying."

The woman in the long dress quickly put on a white coat and rushed to the examination room.

Jiang Yan.

Lin Yu caught her name from her name tag on her chest, admiring that she had a good name to match her气质.

In the examination room, a young couple was anxiously comforting a crying little girl. The child, about three or four years old, had a red face, struggling in the young woman's arms, looking very agitated. Her voice was hoarse from crying, and she occasionally vomited.

Lin Yu's eyebrows furrowed at the sight. He wasn't sure if it was an illusion, but he saw a faint black aura around the child.

What surprised him more was the child's cry, which was strange, indescribably strange.

"Director Jiang, you're here!" The young couple looked at Jiang Yan as if she were a savior.

Jiang Yan touched the child's forehead, then took her pulse, and said, "It's nothing serious, just a shock. I'll give her a few acupuncture needles, and she'll be fine."

Jiang Yan then instructed the glasses doctor to fetch her acupuncture kit and the nurse to prepare a sedative.

"Director Jiang, why is the child so agitated today, and why is she vomiting? She didn't have these symptoms a few days ago," the young woman asked, sweating profusely as she tried to calm the child.

"How did you get here? By car?" Jiang Yan asked.

The young couple nodded.

"Then it's probably because you drove too fast. The child is carsick, which is why she's reacting so strongly," Jiang Yan said.

"Yes, yes, the child has always been carsick. I was in a hurry, so I drove fast," the young man said, feeling guilty.

"Don't worry, the sedative will help her quickly," Jiang Yan said, confident in her medical skills.

Huaan Clinic, as a community clinic, had gained its reputation largely due to her efforts. Such a minor issue was no problem for her.

"You can't give her a sedative. She's not just agitated from a fever. If you inject a sedative, her condition might worsen."

The nurse had already brought the acupuncture kit and sedative, and was about to inject the child when Lin Yu suddenly stopped her.

Lin Yu was an excellent graduate from a medical university in his previous life and had inherited his ancestors' medical techniques, making his medical skills extremely advanced.

He felt that the child's condition was not simple and that a sedative should not be administered rashly.

"I'm working, please leave!" Jiang Yan said coldly, glaring at Lin Yu angrily.

When had it ever been this parasite's turn to interfere in her work?

"If I'm not mistaken, this child has had a hidden illness before, hasn't she?" Lin Yu ignored Jiang Yan and turned to the young couple.

The young couple was surprised that Lin Yu could see through their child's hidden illness at a glance.

But seeing Jiang Yan's angry face, the young woman didn't dare to answer directly and asked cautiously, "Director Jiang, is he a doctor too?"

"Is he a doctor? Then I'm the director of Qinghai City People's Hospital!"

Before Jiang Yan could speak, the glasses doctor laughed coldly, giving Lin Yu a disdainful look and said sarcastically, "He is Director Jiang's husband, a high achiever from Qinghai Vocational and Technical School. He hasn't found a job since graduation and is known as a freeloader, living off Director Jiang..."

"Enough, don't say anymore. He Jiarong, please leave," Jiang Yan said coldly, feeling embarrassed to have such a wimp for a husband.

The young couple glanced at Lin Yu with disdain, wondering what kind of karma Director Jiang must have had to marry such a parasite.

Lin Yu was speechless. Even he found this He Jiarong pitiful. It was one thing to be looked down upon by his wife, but for her subordinates to treat him like this was too much.

"Director Jiang said, please leave!"

Seeing that Lin Yu didn't move, the glasses doctor came over and made a gesture to leave.

Lin Yu wasn't one to overstay his welcome. Seeing that they didn't want him there, he left without another word.

Jiang Yan had already injected the sedative, and the child instantly calmed down. The young couple breathed a sigh of relief, convinced that Lin Yu was just a pretentious fool.

Jiang Yan took a fine needle from her kit and inserted it into the child's finger joints, squeezing out some clear liquid. She then touched the child's forehead and said, "The fever will go down soon."

Lin Yu stood outside the clinic, feeling depressed. He regretted taking over this young man's body. He was alive, but living such a wretched life.

Thinking about the child's cry, Lin Yu was puzzled. Why did a child's cry give him such a strange feeling?

Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he slapped his hand, exclaiming, "That's not a human cry at all!"
