Ning Mansion.

Ning Chen was currently practicing horse stance in the courtyard.

This body had been malnourished for a long time, and after a serious illness, it was quite frail and needed to be exercised well.

If his body were in better condition, Ning Mao wouldn't have been able to run away yesterday.

While practicing the horse stance, Ning Chen was thinking about what to do next.

This Ning Mansion was not a place where he could stay for long; he needed to find a way to leave as soon as possible.

Given the current situation, if he didn't leave Ning Mansion, he would eventually be killed by Chang Ruyue and her son.

He now had a hundred taels of silver, enough to buy a small courtyard in a remote area.

In a while, Ning Ziming would be off from court... then he would confront him.

Ning Ziming didn't have him in his heart as a son, so he would likely agree... As for Chang Ruyue and her son, they probably couldn't wait for him to leave.

He would go to the West City, where all sorts of people mixed together. He could sell poems and make things that didn't exist in this world.

While Ning Chen was lost in thought, Ning Gan and Ning Mao burst in with several servants armed with sticks.

Seeing the situation, Ning Chen instinctively retreated to the wall, where there was a pile of firewood. He could grab a piece of wood as a weapon.

"Brother, I told you, this bastard actually has money to buy new clothes. He must have stolen your money," Ning Mao shouted, pointing at Ning Chen.

Ning Gan narrowed his eyes, looking sinister, "Ning Chen, did you steal the five taels of silver I lost yesterday?"

Ning Chen replied coldly, "Ning Gan, don't you need a good reason to accuse someone? We didn't even see each other yesterday."

Ning Gan sneered, "When a thief steals, do they let the owner know?"

"You say you didn't steal it, then tell me... where did you get the money for new clothes?"

Ning Chen said with a cold face, "I earned it myself."

Ning Mao mocked, "You, who can't carry a load or lift a hand, how did you earn money? I think you didn't earn it, you stole it from your brother."

Yesterday, he was chased by Ning Chen with a stick, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Finally, he thought of Ning Chen's new clothes and told Chang Ruyue about it.

Chang Ruyue devised a plan for Ning Mao, which led to this.

Their goal was clear: to beat Ning Chen while Ning Ziming was still at court, take his new clothes, and see how he would survive the winter.

Ning Chen didn't bother to explain anymore. These two brothers were clearly here to cause trouble, and explaining wouldn't help.

He picked up a piece of wood and said expressionlessly, "Get out!"

Ning Gan sneered, "Truly a bastard, born without a mother's guidance... crude and rude, morally corrupt."

"I am your elder brother, and you stole my silver. How dare you speak to me like this? I will teach you a lesson today."

"You, give him a lesson... and search for the silver he stole from me."

Several servants, armed with sticks, approached Ning Chen menacingly.

Ning Chen shouted angrily, "You dogs, I may be out of favor, but I am still the fourth son of Ning Mansion. Think about the consequences if you touch me."

But his words didn't scare the servants today.

They were following the orders of the lady of the house.

But Ning Chen was not the same as before, no longer a lamb to be slaughtered.

As a former soldier, his military spirit remained, and he never shied away from danger.

He threw the piece of wood in his hand.

One servant couldn't dodge it and was hit in the chest, crying out in pain!

Another servant, before he could react, was hit in the head by another piece of wood, bleeding profusely.

The pieces of wood flew around, forcing the servants to retreat, unable to do anything to Ning Chen for a moment.

"You useless scum, attack him, attack!"

Ning Mao shouted, furious.

Uncle Chai, who was busy in the house, heard the commotion and limped out.

Seeing the servants with sticks approaching Ning Chen, he panicked and shouted,

"What are you doing? He is the fourth son, you can't treat him like this."

Ning Mao rushed over and kicked Uncle Chai to the ground, beating him.

"You old dog, so protective... have you forgotten who your true master is?"

"Stop barking, stop yapping... I'll have Mother kick you out of the mansion tomorrow."

Ning Mao beat Uncle Chai while shouting.

"Uncle Chai..."

Ning Chen was anxious, and for a moment, he was distracted. A servant took the opportunity to rush to Ning Chen and hit his leg with a stick.

Ning Chen's body bent, and he fell to the ground.

Ning Gan shouted, "Beat him, beat him to death!"

The servants swung their sticks at Ning Chen's frail body.

Ning Chen covered his head with his hands, curling into a ball, enduring the rain of blows without a sound.

"Move aside, let me handle it!"

Ning Mao left Uncle Chai and walked to Ning Chen.

The servants stopped.

Ning Mao approached Ning Chen with a smug look, squatted down, and patted Ning Chen's head, "Ning Chen, where's your arrogance now? Come and chase me with a stick?"

Suddenly, Ning Chen grabbed his arm and bit down.

Even through the clothes, Ning Mao felt excruciating pain and screamed like a pig being slaughtered!

"What are you standing there for? Help me!"

Ning Gan was the first to react, shouting loudly.

The servants hurriedly tried to separate the two.

But Ning Chen was like a fierce beast, not letting go of Ning Mao's arm.

"Master, we can't separate them."

A servant was sweating profusely.

"Useless, beat him until he lets go."

The servants started beating Ning Chen.

After a long time, Ning Chen finally let go... because he had been beaten unconscious.

Ning Mao, trembling with pain, rolled up his sleeve and saw that a piece of flesh had almost been bitten off, blood flowing.

Fortunately, the clothes had protected him, or the flesh would have been completely torn off.

"This bastard dared to bite me, beat him, beat him to death."

Ning Mao, like a mad dog, shouted loudly.

The servants were about to attack again but were stopped by Ning Gan.

"We can't beat him anymore, or we'll kill him... Father will be back soon, and we can't explain this!"

"Take off his clothes. In his current state, he won't last a few days."

The servants took off Ning Chen's new clothes.

"Master, look at this."

A servant found a silver note.

Ning Gan took it and was surprised, "A hundred taels?"

Ning Mao also looked and exclaimed, "How does this bastard have so much money?"

Ning Gan's eyes gleamed with greed, "I remember now, I didn't lose five taels, but exactly a hundred."

Ning Mao understood, "Right, Brother lost a hundred taels... this bastard, who dared to steal money in the mansion, deserves to die!"

Ning Gan looked at Ning Chen, who was lying unconscious in his undergarments, and smiled coldly, "Let's go!"

Just as they turned to leave, they saw Ning Ziming walking into the courtyard.
