Midnight.

Longcheng Hospital.

The emergency department was unusually quiet, and intern doctor Long Fei and the beautiful nurse Wang Xiaonan were chatting idly.

Long Fei was just twenty-two years old, standing at 1.80 meters tall, with a robust build and handsome features. Despite his youth, he was a legendary figure. Initially, he studied for only two years at the Beijing Medical College before taking a leave of absence and disappearing abroad for three years.

Surprisingly, when Long Fei returned after three years, he not only successfully graduated from the school but also obtained dual degrees in both traditional Chinese and Western medicine!

After leaving school, Long Fei became an intern doctor at Longcheng Hospital.

Just as Long Fei and Wang Xiaonan were chatting animatedly, the door to the emergency room was suddenly pushed open. A young man with red hair poked his head in and said urgently, "Quick, there's an emergency! A car accident! The car is outside!"

Long Fei didn't hesitate, leaping to his feet and dashing out of the emergency room in a few quick steps. Nurse Wang Xiaonan hurried to the on-duty director's office.

Outside the emergency room, a red Ferrari was parked, its front end clearly deformed, indicating it was the accident vehicle!

Long Fei didn't have time to consider the cause of the accident. He yanked open the rear door and saw a young woman lying on the back seat, her face pale and unconscious, with her lower legs severely twisted and deformed, clearly broken!

However, this wasn't the fatal injury! The fatal injury was on her left wrist!

The young woman's left wrist had a large cut from a sharp object, with the radial artery severed, and blood was gushing out, staining a large area of the leather seat red. If not for the cloth bandage that had been tied around the proximal end of her wrist to stop the bleeding and the timely arrival at the hospital, she would have died!

Long Fei didn't have time to think and carried the woman to the emergency operating room.

"Doctor Long, I just went to the on-duty director's office, but Director Liao and the anesthesiologist are not there, and their phones are unreachable. What should we do?" Nurse Wang Xiaonan caught up with Long Fei, panting, and opened the door to the emergency operating room for him.

"Forget about them, we'll do it ourselves!" Long Fei said firmly.

He already knew that the on-duty director, Liao Guanghui, was not there. He had seen Liao Guanghui and the female anesthesiologist from the central operating room leave together in a car, probably to have some fun.

"No! You're just an intern doctor, and you don't have the qualifications to operate! If there's even the slightest mistake, and Director Liao Guanghui finds out, he'll kick you out of the hospital!"

Wang Xiaonan firmly opposed Long Fei's decision.

Long Fei was well aware that Wang Xiaonan's words were not exaggerated. Ever since he accidentally discovered Liao Guanghui and the attractive anesthesiologist engaging in "intense activities" in the office, Liao Guanghui had been trying to make his life difficult, hoping to find a reason to kick him out of the hospital. If he violated hospital regulations and operated alone this time, even if he succeeded, Liao Guanghui would use it as an excuse to kick him out.

However, Long Fei didn't take this to heart and said somewhat roughly to Wang Xiaonan, "Compared to a life, an internship opportunity is nothing!"

"I'm afraid you won't save her life but will harm her instead! Don't forget, you're just an intern, and vascular suturing is a highly technical skill!"

Wang Xiaonan wanted to continue stopping Long Fei but saw him quickly complete the blood sampling and hand the sample to her, saying, "Nurse Wang, don't forget, the on-duty director and the anesthesiologist from the central operating room are both out! If we follow the rules and send the patient to the central operating room, she won't survive by the time they return! If you're willing to help me, go do the blood matching, prepare for the transfusion, and get the surgery ready! If you're not willing to help, I can do it myself! I have confidence in myself!"

Wang Xiaonan still didn't have much faith in Long Fei. After all, he was only an intern who had reported to the emergency department for four or five days! How skilled could he be? But seeing his calm face and confident eyes, she took the blood sample and ran out.

A few minutes later, when the blood bags and IV bottles were hung up, and the surgery began, Wang Xiaonan's perception of Long Fei was immediately refreshed.

Long Fei's long, slender hands moved skillfully, like a spirit dancing on piano keys, while he seemed to transform into a precisely programmed machine!

The severed artery was quickly and steadily reconnected by Long Fei's hands, with a neat and smooth joint, perfectly balanced.

What shocked Wang Xiaonan even more was that after handling the patient's wrist, Long Fei didn't push her to the CT scanner for her legs but instead removed his sterile gloves, cut open her pants, and exposed her broken legs. Then, his long hands gently touched the fracture site, carefully feeling the broken bones beneath the skin.

Although Wang Xiaonan still felt that Long Fei's actions were somewhat inappropriate, she was already impressed by his vascular suturing skills and didn't stop him.

Just as Long Fei was securing the patient's left leg with a splint and bandage and began to handle her right leg, the operating room door was suddenly pushed open.

Long Fei looked up and saw seven or eight people walk in! The hospital director, two deputy directors, the orthopedic department head, and the on-duty director of the emergency department, Liao Guanghui, who had been out with his lover, all came! In addition to the hospital leaders, there was a middle-aged man in his fifties, tall and imposing, with a stern face.

These people walked into the operating room and were stunned to see Long Fei's actions. He was holding the patient's right leg and twisting it in the opposite direction, as if trying to turn it into a braid!

"Long Fei, you bastard! What are you doing? Stop immediately! This is a crime!" Liao Guanghui was the first to react, shouting at Long Fei.

The other hospital leaders also looked at Long Fei with dark faces, as if they wanted to tear him apart. They had never seen anyone set bones like this, thinking Long Fei was experimenting on the patient!

Long Fei was about to explain when he saw Liao Guanghui turn to the hospital leaders and bow, saying, "Leaders, Long Fei operated without notifying me, causing significant harm to the patient. I propose we immediately end his internship and have him leave the hospital!"

Liao Guanghui spoke with a righteous tone but felt a sense of satisfaction: "Damn Long Fei, ever since you exposed my affair, I've wanted to kick you out of the hospital! This is my chance, and I'll see what you have to say."

The other hospital leaders immediately attacked Long Fei:

"This is outrageous! Who gave a mere intern the right to operate?"

"Does he have any sense of discipline? Why didn't he follow hospital procedures?"

"We must kick out such a doctor with no medical ethics and reckless behavior and hold him accountable!"

While speaking, they continuously bowed to the middle-aged man, apologizing. Only the old director sighed at Long Fei.

Wang Xiaonan felt indignant for Long Fei and glared at Liao Guanghui, saying, "Director Liao, that's too hasty! How do you know Doctor Long caused significant harm to the patient? If it weren't for Doctor Long, the patient would have died! When the patient was brought in, I immediately went to find you, but I couldn't find you, so Doctor Long had no choice but to operate!"

"Shut up! I was in the rest room, and Anesthesiologist Xiao Wang can vouch for me! You didn't notify me! You're just a nurse, what do you know? This is for the hospital leaders to decide, not you! Get out now!"

Liao Guanghui, fearing the leaders would believe Wang Xiaonan, quickly "deprived" her of her right to speak.

Long Fei had anticipated that Liao Guanghui would cause trouble, but he didn't expect the hospital leaders to so easily believe Liao Guanghui's words, not even giving him a chance to defend himself! He had risked his life to save someone and ended up with no appreciation!

Long Fei couldn't understand why the hospital leaders would act this way and didn't bother to think about it. His face darkened, and he pulled off his white coat, throwing it to the ground with a thud, saying coldly, "You don't need to kick me out; I resign!"

Wang Xiaonan, red-faced and trembling with anger, also quickly took off her nurse's uniform and threw it on the ground, shouting, "I resign too! What a hospital! I'd rather resign than stay here and be mistreated!"

With that, Wang Xiaonan followed Long Fei out of the operating room.

Just as Long Fei reached the door, the old director's voice came from behind: "Long Fei, the situation isn't clear yet; you don't need to leave in a hurry."

Long Fei turned around, looked at the old director with his serious, slightly graying hair, and smiled bitterly, saying, "Director, I've decided to resign. If the hospital doesn't give me an explanation, I won't come back. Goodbye!"

Long Fei didn't look back and left the operating room in large strides.

"You'll regret this!" Wang Xiaonan said firmly and also left.
