Ai Wen moved quickly. Perhaps you could say she couldn’t wait to screw over Ren Shaotang. Li Xiao’s 10% shares would soon be bought for 12 billion yuan, which was much better than the market price.
Of course, not all the money was Ren Shaotang’s. A large portion came from assets the Ren family sold. Otherwise, how could Ren Shaotang raise money so fast if it took him so long just to raise one billion yuan? Li Qianfei’s spectacular luck was widely known, so countless people wanted to buy the Li family’s shares and hold on to them.
The money, however, was not all paid in cash. It was replaced by upscale buildings with similar value.
Li Xiao could rent out the buildings, and since they were in a nice district, there was no shortage of people willing to buy them either. Therefore, Li Xiao agreed to the deal. After all, she wouldn’t lose anything.
Since Li Xiao had to sign the contract, she would have to personally appear.
When Ren Shaotang saw her, his pupils dilated. “It really is you.”
10% wasn’t a small number of shares, and there were only four of the major stockholders that could possess that much. But other than Li Xiao, there was no one willing to sell that many shares. Although he was happy, he still despised Li Xiao and thought she was a moron with a pretty face. Li Nanjue must’ve gone blind if he gifted so many shares to Li Xiao and nothing to Li Qianfei.
Li Xiao smiled indifferently. “Now that you know, are you still willing to sign the contract?”
“Aren’t you afraid your father will be upset if you sell your shares?” Ren Shaotang asked.
Although he loathed Li Xiao, his hatred didn’t prevent him from coming to sign the contract. With these shares, Ren Shaotang would become one of the major shareholders of the Li company and could protect Jiayin and her daughter. Ren Shaotang wouldn’t have to worry even if Li Nanjue changed his mind in the future.
If the head of the Ren family knew that Ren Shaotang wasn’t buying shares in order to make money but to protect a woman, he’d vomit blood.
Li Xiao had read the contract and got it checked by a lawyer to make sure there were no loopholes.
With both of them interested in the deal, an agreement was quickly established.
Giving the hot potato to someone else released the tension from Li Xiao’s body. Hooray! Even if the Li family went bankrupt later, she wouldn’t suffer any losses.
Ren Shaotang didn’t want to spend any more time with Li Xiao. After he signed the contract, he quickly left as if Li Xiao was vermin he didn’t dare to look twice at.
Li Xiao couldn’t care less. She was already used to Ren Shaotang’s attitude. Moreover, when she looked at his feature, she foresaw Ren Shaotang losing a large sum of money. Was it because he bought the shares? She couldn’t help but be a little happy when she saw Ren Shaotanh’s misfortune.

The film Ren Shaotang and Zhan Jiayin were starring in reached its critical stage. Only a few more days were left until all the filming was completed. The cast and crew put in all their efforts for a strong finish, but Shaotang had to take a leave of absence to sign the contract.
Although Ren Shoatang became a moron whenever he ran into something regarding Zhan Jiayin, he was a well-established actor in the entertainment industry and was able to slip into character very quickly. His talent made the director more forgiving when it came to him.
On September 3, filming would see closure.
After the filming ended, he wouldn’t be able to openly spend time with Jiayin. Knowing Nanjue, he would definitely prevent Jiayin from working with Shaotang.
Shaotang began to despise Nanjue. How could Li Nanjue call himself a man when he was behaving like this? On one hand, he refuses to cherish Jiayin and allowed Qu Lian and Li Xiao to bully her. But on the other hand, Shaotang was jealous of Jiayin and Nanjue’s relationship. When he saw Jiayin’s haggard face, he desperately wanted to whisk her away from her troubles. Her stubbornness didn’t allow her to part from Nanjue after she chose him.
Jiayin already changed her clothes and was now wearing a light-colored dress that hugged the curves of her exquisite figure. She solemnly stood in front of a window holding a glass of cold sake. Her somber mood mismatched the celebratory atmosphere around her.
He couldn’t help but walk toward her, hoping to soothe the depression in her eyes.
The rest of the cast and crew silently watched the pair, unwilling to stop them. Although the two had a bad reputation at the moment, they were people they couldn’t afford to offend. Right now, Li Nanjue’s green hat seemed to be shining spectacularly.
Zhan Jiayin was immersed in her self-pity and didn’t notice Shaotang approach her. She felt as though everyone neglected her. Every night, she would come home to a cold and empty house only to have her mother-in-law bully her. Hence, Jiayin didn’t like going home anymore.
Lately, she had been sleeping in the studio, but Nanjue had never even come to visit her or say a word of comfort.
Had Nanjue had a change of heart?
Jiayin’s heart throbbed at the possibility.
“Jiayin.” A concerned, gentle voice calmed her name beside her ear.
Zhan Jiayin turned and was met with Ren Shaotang’s warm eyes. She lowered her head and said, “Shaotang.”
When Ren Shaotang saw the sadness in her eyes, he was overcome with an inexplicable urge to comfort her.
“Jiayin, I have some good news.” Ren Shaotang prepared to tell Jiayin he had bought the company shares. Without these shares, Li Xiao wouldn’t have any influence inside the company.
Shaotang’s figure reflected off of Zhan Jiayin’s eye, and she looked at him expectantly.
Ren Shaotang opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Zhan Jiayin’s assistant, Xiao Gao, scrambled over with an anxious expression.
Xiao Gao either hadn’t noticed the atmosphere between the two or she didn’t have time to care.
“Jiayin jie, bad news! The company stocks plummeted!”
Ren Shaotang stiffened. Was he hearing her right?
