“Okay, then it’s a deal.”
Li Xiao hung up the call after saying goodbye to Ai Wen.
Ai Wen had called her to rejoice the Li family’s misfortune and praise Li Xiao’s intelligence for selling the stocks on time. She also wanted to ask Li Xiao to go over to check the company’s Feng Shui and see what the specific problem was.
Li Xiao agreed. Ai Wen still worked at Huawu Entertainment and still owned company shares. She desperately wished Huawu Entertainment would see some success. Li Xiao didn’t procrastinate and planned to check it tomorrow. After all, in three days, she’d be a university student.
Li Xiao looked at the class roster. Some of the other students from the same class had already gone to school to volunteer and prepare for orientation. She assumed that because of her infamous personality, no one would be looking for her. That was fine with her. She was happy to relax.
What gave her a headache was her sophomore year classes. She was majoring in fine arts… it would have been fine if it were the original Li Xiao, but the current Li Xiao could only draw charms!
Forget it. She could attend a few classes, and if it didn’t work out, then she could take a temporary hiatus.
Meanwhile, the sparrow was furiously writing at a speed where you could only see the afterimages of her movements. She’d spent an entire day playing games instead of writing and now was in a life or death situation of struggling to update on time.
The noise of the sparrow spirit tapping away at the keyboard was rather noisy. “Go back to your room and use the computer to write,” Li Xiao said to the sparrow spirit.
The sparrow spirit nodded and turned in Li Xiao’s direction. “Xiao Xiao, I already have VIP readers! Just wait for me! I’m going to become a God soon!”
She was downright confident in herself.
Li Xiao didn’t respond. It was true that the sparrow spirit had a good word count. The novel was an outlet for the sparrow spirit’s energy, preventing her from getting too bored and spending the whole day chatting with Li Xiao. The sparrow spirit’s incessant chatter wasn’t something Li Xiao wanted to deal with.
Being talkative sounds like a very endearing characteristic for 2D characters, but in reality, it was nothing but annoying! Until now, Li Xiao hadn’t interfered with the sparrow spirit’s life, and the sparrow spirit had already found her true love!
The sparrow spirit flew and said, “That’s right. Xiao Xiao, starting tomorrow, I’m going to learn how to transform!”
“Why are you suddenly interested?” Li Xiao asked doubtfully. She had already attempted to teach the sparrow transfiguration since it was rare to be enlightened. Li Xiao had hoped to gain an extra hand at cleaning the house. Unfortunately, the sparrow spirit refused, insisting that learning how to transform was a waste of time and that reading novels was more useful. Li Xiao wasn’t sure what changed her mind.
“I’m going to learn how to transform and join the offline game meet-up,” the sparrow spirit said.
Li Xiao nearly wheezed. You’re a sparrow spirit! Why do you want to meet up with people face-to-face?
The sparrow spirit excitedly said, “The people in my guild said that the event always has lots of drama, so I want to go see it firsthand!”
It was very like the sparrow spirit to give such a reason.
Impressed, Li Xiao said, “I’ll make a new copy of the transformation technique for you later.” Although she had taught the sparrow spirit before, the sparrow spirit, who only had eyes for novels, definitely didn’t remember it.
The sparrow spirit was satisfied and returned to her room, and the living room suddenly became quiet.
Li Xiao laid on the sofa, scrolled through Weibo, and let the comments entertain her.
She hadn’t expected her grandmother to make such explosive allegations about an illegitimate son even though the gender of the child was still unknown.
After this, the Li family was only scared of flying chickens and pigs. Of course, Li Xiao was very satisfied with this turn of events. A little more chaos would be better.
Unfortunately, Li Xiao’s solitary time didn’t last long, and at 8:40 pm, Li Qianfei arrived.
Li Qianfei was haggard, and her skin had sunken in. She was already quite skinny, to begin with, and her weight loss didn’t do her much good. But her weight loss was a result of the turmoil in her heart. With everything going on at home, she could no longer be the happy little princess she was before.
Li Xiao wondered if Li Qianfei wanted to take her necklace back? That wouldn’t do. She had already given the necklace to Jiang Chao to be auctioned off at the end of the month. Li Xiao couldn’t return it!
Li Qianfei raised her head and pitifully sighed, “Elder Sister.”
In a way, Li Xiao admired her cheekiness. The two sisters had quarreled with each other several times, and yet, Li Qianfei could still act as though nothing happened.
Li Xiao returned to feeling nauseated by Li Qianfei’s appearance.
Likewise, she plastered on a friendly smile. “You’re turning 18 next month. Your birthday present should be marvelous~”
Li Qianfei stood petrified. Whether or not she could host a birthday banquet during such a stormy time was still in question. She knew that if the Li family didn’t regroup as soon as possible, most of the invited VIPs wouldn’t come. Those people were very materialistic.
“When the time arrives, I’ll give you a handmade cake. After all, it’s not the gift that matters. It’s the thought behind it,” Li Xiao said.
There was no way she would spend money on Li Qianfei. She would only send her a cake because Li Qianfei so graciously gave her the necklace.
Li Xiao’s words were like a knife stabbing Li Qianfei’s heart through and through a thousand times. Li Qianfei didn’t want to let Li Xiao continue to irritate her and brought up the topic she’d been so desperate to talk about. “Has Elder Sister seen the online news? We’re going to have another brother next year.”
“We don’t know if it’ll be twins. Maybe we’ll have another pair of dragon and phoenix children,” Li Xiao said.
Li Qianfei was stunned into silence.
She had nothing to say.
“Dad will definitely be distracted by the new siblings. They’re still young after all.” Li Qianfei’s expression became gloomier.
Li Xiao understood why Li Qianfei came to visit. Was Li Qianfei trying to make Li Xiao do something stupid?
“Children are innocent. How can we blame them for the mistakes of adults? No matter what, they’re our younger siblings. We should welcome our new family members with enthusiasm~ I’ve always wanted to have a younger brother, and I really hope Dad will give me more.” Li Xiao took the moral high ground and was deeply touched by her own character.
Li Qianfei’s expression froze. Why did this sound so familiar?
Li Xiao gave her the final blow. “Since you know what being an illegitimate daughter is like, you must be able to better understand their situation and will properly fulfill your sisterly duty to care for them, right? Hey, I’ve always regretted that I never made it up to you before and made you suffer so much because you were illegitimate. I’ve decided to make it up to my future siblings so that they won’t make the same mistakes I did! I’ve already wronged one sister. I can’t wrong another!”
At this point, she must’ve been radiating holy light.
Li Qianfei wanted to vomit blood. If you feel guilty, make it up to me! Not some unborn child!
