Morning light spread across the bed, reaching Yu Zhou's delicate face, but the two dark circles under his eyes stood out starkly.
Yu Zhou, an ordinary college student, was just a few years past the age of sixteen, currently living in a small rented room.
Although the room was not large, it was just enough for Yu Zhou to live in. In the morning, the sunlight could shine on the bed, which was quite nice.
"That dream last night was too bizarre," Yu Zhou, with dark circles under his eyes, muttered to himself.
Last night, he had a bizarre dream.
A little girl in a red dress, holding a red ball, asked him if he wanted to save the world.
Save the world?
What a joke!
"Boy, you must want the power of a superhero, right? Now I will give you that power, and the future of this world will be entrusted to you..."
"Hold on! I refuse!"
In the dream, seeing the little girl in the red dress about to give him some superpower to save the world, Yu Zhou quickly raised his hand to refuse the task.
"Boy, don't rush to refuse..."
The little girl in the red dress tried to continue persuading him, but was interrupted by Yu Zhou again.
"I just want to study well, eat, and wait to die. Saving the world? Let someone else do it!"
Yu Zhou's righteous words left the little girl in the red dress at a loss.
"Also, I have a question," Yu Zhou looked at the red ball in the little girl's hands and said, "Do you like singing and dancing?"
"Huh?" The little girl in the red dress was taken aback by this sudden question.
"Singing, dancing, and playing with the red ball—aren't these the essential skills for a little girl your age?" Yu Zhou grinned.
"Boy, you don't need to say more. This world needs you." Although the little girl in the red dress didn't understand what Yu Zhou was saying, she changed the subject and insisted that the world needed him.
"No, no, no, you've got it wrong. This world doesn't need me. I just want to eat and wait to die."
Yu Zhou waved his hands, wondering why this little girl, who should be doing her homework at home, was talking to him about saving the world.
What was going on?
All he wanted was happiness.
What is happiness?
Cats eat fish, dogs eat meat, and Ultramen fight monsters.
"Hmm, you finally see the light, boy." The little girl in the red dress seemed to read Yu Zhou's thoughts, or perhaps misunderstood something, and a smile appeared on her face.
"What light? What do you mean by 'seeing the light'?" Yu Zhou was completely confused. He hadn't said anything, and it was hard to believe that this little girl could read his thoughts. He hadn't been thinking about anything either.
"Since that's the case, the world is entrusted to you!"
"But before the world faces a crisis, you will travel to various worlds to train and familiarize yourself with your own power."
With that, the little girl flew into the air and smiled at Yu Zhou, who was still standing there in shock.
Then, she threw a crystal-clear crystal rod at Yu Zhou.
Yu Zhou reacted, reaching out to catch it, but missed and got hit on the forehead instead.
"Ouch!" Yu Zhou cried out, rubbing his sore forehead. This little girl had no sense of public decency, throwing things from a height. Why couldn't she just hand it over properly?
When he looked up again, the little girl was gone.
Looking down, he saw the crystal rod that had hit him on the head.
Picking up the culprit that had caused him pain, Yu Zhou was surprised because he was very familiar with it.
Wasn't this the transformation device of the Ultraman from TV?
The Spark Prism? Or the popularly known Divine Light Rod?
So, pressing the button on it would turn him into Ultraman Tiga?
Yu Zhou pondered for a moment.
"How could a little girl in a red dress suddenly appear and ask me to save the world, and then give me an Ultraman transformation device?"
"Hmm..."
"I must be dreaming!"
"How could I have such a strange dream? They say that what you think about during the day appears in your dreams at night. I watched Ultraman Tiga when I was a kid, but my brain's delay isn't that high..."
...
Yu Zhou was right; he was dreaming. When he woke up, he didn't sleep well, and he still had dark circles under his eyes.
He even touched his forehead, which still hurt.
It was hit in the dream.
"Hit in the dream? Why am I still in pain when I wake up?!" Yu Zhou exclaimed, shocked. How could he be in pain after being hit in a dream?
This was too much! If he got shot in a dream, would he die when he woke up? No, he would still wake up?
"No, I must still be dreaming."
Yu Zhou was certain that he was still dreaming and hadn't woken up. Usually, dreams are just dreams, and reality is reality. How could he be injured in a dream and still be injured when he woke up?
So, Yu Zhou lay back down.
An hour later.
Yu Zhou got up again, rubbing his forehead. It still hurt.
"Damn! Could I have entered a dream space?" Yu Zhou found it hard to believe. This was too unscientific.
Just as Yu Zhou was puzzled, he felt something hard under his thigh.
"Wait, what's this?"
Yu Zhou lifted the blanket and pulled out the Spark Prism from under his thigh.
Yu Zhou: "..."
Sweat slowly appeared on Yu Zhou's forehead, then formed droplets and fell onto the bed.
"Could this all be real?"
Yu Zhou, half-believing and half-doubting, looked at his thigh and, with a determined heart, twisted it hard.
"Damn, it hurts..."
The pain in his thigh made Yu Zhou very clear. Everything was real.
This wasn't a dream.
Placing the Spark Prism on the bed, Yu Zhou stopped thinking about it and started to wash up.
"I need to calm down." Yu Zhou told himself that he must stay calm, but what was going on? How did he suddenly become an Ultraman?
After washing his face with cold water, Yu Zhou felt much clearer.
Returning to the bed, he picked up the Spark Prism and examined it carefully.
It was perfectly formed, crystal clear, with a few golden patterns naturally spreading across the two ends of the Spark Prism. In the morning sunlight, it seemed to be filled with mysterious energy.
"If this is all real, then what the little girl in the red dress said might also be true..." Yu Zhou had completely calmed down.
In the dream, the little girl in the red dress said that the world would face a crisis, and he needed to save it.
Leaving aside why he, among all the otakus, was chosen, if the crisis she mentioned was correct, it would be the appearance of monsters.
As for why it was the Spark Prism, which could transform him into Ultraman Tiga, Yu Zhou guessed it might be related to the Ultraman TV shows he watched the most as a child.
The little girl gave him a Spark Prism based on the Ultraman he knew best.
"To be honest, why choose me? I really don't want to do such a big thing as saving the world..." Yu Zhou felt helpless.
He was just an ordinary college student, with no martial arts skills or special combat abilities.
He had never even killed a chicken or a duck and was afraid of stepping on flowers and grass.
Yet, the responsibility of saving the world fell on his shoulders.
This was too sudden and too unreal...
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Yu Zhou recalled what the little girl in the red dress said in the dream: since he was not familiar with the energy, he would be sent to various worlds to train.
This meant he would be sent to other worlds?
Which worlds?
Yu Zhou stared at the Spark Prism in his hand, full of doubt.
"At least tell me how to go, where to go, and whether I will die in another world..."
Yu Zhou felt helpless. Now he was like a headless... no, like a little bee, bumping around, having to figure things out on his own.
"Besides, with the advanced technology in this world, the monsters might just become new food for others." Yu Zhou thought of the monsters in TV shows, which didn't seem to have that much destructive power. With the weapons and technology of his world, they should be able to handle the monsters.
Just as Yu Zhou was lost in thought, the space in front of him suddenly distorted, and a strong suction force emerged, enveloping him.
"Is this the legendary teleportation? Can't I at least have breakfast first?!" Yu Zhou, in despair, let go of the bedpost with his last two fingers and was sucked into the distorted space.
