Tsurumimi Asuta, a 17-year-old high school student, is an apprentice cook working at his father's popular restaurant, 'Tsurumiya'. One day, 'Tsurumiya' catches fire, and to save his father's most prized possession, a three-bladed kitchen knife, Asuta jumps into the inferno and dies. He wakes up in an unfamiliar jungle, is attacked by a wild beast resembling a boar, and is saved by a girl named Ai-fa, who introduces herself as a member of the 'Forest People'. He learns that he is in another world.
