Aileen Conrad, a ducal lady of eighteen years of age, was discarded by her fiancée in his desire to be wed to the next Saintess. The fiancée, in question, Sir Maynard, the first prince, was then announced to have been engaged to Lady Lina, the likeliest saintess candidate to be chosen.
Onward to the day of the Saintess Selection Ceremony, the precious orb is now to choose the holy successor—but oh my, oh my, Lady Rina wasn’t chosen? Oh my, oh my, was I the next Saintess?
Aileen inadvertently yelled ‘Serves you right!’ with all her heart.
