“Haah, I’m not being trusted.”
Ritsu thought while searching for food in the forest.
“Oh, a wild-boar just at the right place.”
Ritsu covered his palm in Ki, raised it, and swiftly brought it down.
“I’ll be eating well tonight.”
“How can I get them to trust me more…”
Ritsu thinks while dismantling his game skillfully.
“Maybe they’ll accept me if I make something delicious out of this?”
Ritsu who softened his expression, hurriedly returns to where the four were.
“Hey, I’m back. Any new developments?”
Ritsu asked as he brought the chopped up meat in his hands.
“No, nothing new.”
Izumi answered as she came out of her tent.
“That’s great. By the way, I got my hands on some good meat, so won’t you all have some? Of course, I’ll be cooking.”
Ritsu proposed with as much gentleness as he could muster.
“Of course I will. Let me ask the other three as well.”
Saying that, she went back inside the tent. Ritsu used the burning bonfire to cook the meat of the boar.
“Something smells delicious.”
Tanno came out of the tent.
“Yeah, it’ll soon be done.”
Ritsu sprinkled the meat with his treasured sauce, which he made during his life in the forest and preserved in his shadow, and handed Tanno a plate.
“Exquisite…to think I’d get to eat something like this outside the sanctuary.”
Having finished her plate in moments, Tanno looked towards Ritsu hoping for seconds.
“You can serve yourself, in case you want seconds.”
Right as Ritsu said that, she jumped at the meat with tremendous force. After cooking silently for a while, the other three stepped outside.
“Can I also have some?”
As Izumi says that, Saijou and Kuroi follow up with her.
“I’d like some too. I’m famished you see…”
“Me too.”
“Aah, go ahead. I’m cooking more so please serve yourself.”
Ritsu recommended the grilled meat smilingly. It seemed like his become-friendly tactics were working.
“This is really good. Does Yozakura-san have some cooking-related skill?”
Tanno asked out of sheer interest.
“Yes, I have the [Cooking] skill.”
Ritsu answered normally, but the four’s expression suddenly changed to that of astonishment.
“The [Cooking] skill.”
“The top-class of cooking-related skills…”
“Is something wrong?”
Ritsu asked, while looking curiously at the four who had had gone pale.
“Not just ‘something’, [Cooking] is an upper-rank skill which you only acquire after getting a variety of other skills, like [Heating] and [Seasoning], you know?”
“Each of them individually don’t require that many S(kill)P(oints), but getting all of them demands a significant amount of SP.”
“People in combat jobs are pretty weird.”
“[Cooking] allows you to cook meals which don’t require cooking utensils, but [Instrumental Cooking] helps you with meals that require those.”
The four took turns explaining while stuffing the meat into their mouths.
“Yes, you’re right. Absolutely.”
Ritsu gave a forced smile, as he continued cooking.
Two hours later.
“They went to sleep. Even though I’m here, isn’t that being too carefree?”
Before Ritsu were the four, who had finished their dinners and were snoring comfortably in their sleep.
“The spirit tree is gone, and monsters could appear at any moment…”
(Doesn’t feel like I’ll get any sleep today. Doesn’t matter though since I’m a sage.)
Ritsu stood up slightly annoyed, and confirmed the reactions of the monsters observing from afar.
“Haah.”
Ritsu sighed and at the same time, a large number of cherry blossom petals bloomed out of his shadow in a hemispherical shape to protect the sleeping four. The cherry blossom petals then get enveloped in a pale blue light, and stagnate in the air.
“How bothersome. If you’re coming, then come at once.”
(It’s not like my words would reach monsters who have already fallen, would they.)
As Ritsu pulled out his sword and covered himself in Ki, a pressure which made even breathing difficult spread around him.
“”!!Gugyaa!””
Losing their sanity at the first-time experience, the monsters jump at me all at once.
“[Sakura Tornado].”
The cherry blossom petals which were spread in a hemisphere started spinning at high-speeds, and inadvertently shredded the charging monsters.
“No need for my sword huh, I guess the monsters here are weak after all.”
As Ritsu sheathed his sword in boredom, loud footsteps began reverberating inside the forest.
There remained a fixed distance, but the monsters had certainly recognized Ritsu.
(The monsters are approaching the area left unnclaimed by the spirit tree’s absence.)
Ritsu smirks as if he was amused.
“In any case, It doesn’t feel like I’ll stay bored.”
Ritsu left the cherry blossom petals as they were for the sleeping four, then took out some more petals from his shadow and headed inside forest.
