“Good morning, breakfast is ready.”

Ritsu greeted Izumi, who had just opened her eyes, and signalled her to sit next to him.

“U, mm? Good, morning…?”

She replied while rubbing her eyes.

“Yes, it’s morning now.”

Ritsu laughed and looked up at the sky.

“Oh yeah… wait what am I saying, apologies! We ended up relying on Yozakura-san the entire night, so please forgive us!”

Izumi apologized with tremendous momentum, while taking peeks at the three who were still in deep sleep.

“Ah, don’t worry about it. There weren’t any strong enemies anyways.”

Ritsu looked at the remains of last night’s monsters.

“Strong enemies..ah, so many…”

Izumi opened her eyes wide in amazement, as she saw the remains of the monsters covered in dirt.

“That horn, could it be from a 1st-class Minotaur?”

“1st-class?”

Ritsu tilts his head hearing those words for the first time.

“You can more or less judge the strength of a Minotaur based on the color of their horns. Yellow means 3rd-class, blue means 2nd-class, and red means 1st. Any other color falls under zero-class. As the value of class decreases, they become stronger.”

“That so. Glad I didn’t meet a zero class then.”

Ritsu nodded casually, while chewing on the meat he was having for breakfast.

“Yes. This wound…just what sort of an attack would make a Minotaur’s body so tattered?”

Izumi mutters in a small voice, but it didn’t reach Ritsu’s ears so he continued nibbling on his breakfast.

“Oi! Get up! It’s morning already, you lot!”

As Izumi finishes surveying the remains, she then wakes up her three companions.

“…Mm? Captain? Morning…?”

Tanno woke up at her own pace, but the other two immediately got up and equipped their weapons.

“Wha~t, Enemies!?”

“Enemies!?”

“Like I’m saying, the enemies came last evening…”

Izumi sat them down at the breakfast table while calming them down.

“We apologize, Yozakura-san.”

“”We apologize.””

The three who were sitting in their places, finally understood the situation and bowed their heads in embarrassment.

“It’s alright, I didn’t have to face any strong enemies, so there’s no problem. I don’t need that much sleep either thanks to my skill, so please don’t worry. More importantly, please eat.”

As Ritsu said that, the three breathed a sigh of relief and ate their breakfast.

“I’m stepping out for a bit.”

Sensing monsters nearby, Ritsu stood up from his seat.

“I shall accompany you.”

Tanno rounded up her meal, and decided to accompany him.

“What is it? Monsters?”

Saijou asks, while being alert of his surroundings.

“Yeah, monsters. Yozakura-san and I shall take care of it.”

“I’ll be fine alone though?”

As Ritsu says that,

“It’s standard to form a party of at least two in forests…”

Tanno insisted upon accompanying him by saying that.

“I see. Alright, then let’s go.”

Ritsu picks up the sword that was leaning against him, and heads towards the monsters.

“There they are. 2 Ogres. I’ll take care of them.”

Saying that, Ritsu steps out in front of the monsters.

“Ah, wait! You can’t just go in like that!”

Tanno started panicking at Ritsu’s unexpected actions.

“”GAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa””

As the Ogres charged towards Ritsu, he unsheathes his sword, and cuts off their heads in an instant.

“Incapable of even judging your enemy’s strength.”

After looking at the Ogres’ corpses pitifully, Ritsu looked back to confirm Tanno was safe behind him.

“Was that okay?”

“…..”

Tanno was frozen in place.

“What’s wrong?”

Ritsu asks, after seeing her reaction.

“…Those, movements……”

Tanno still hadn’t moved an inch.

“Let’s go back, shall we?”

As Ritsu started returning after saying that, Tanno, who looked as if she was dreaming, came back to her senses and followed after him.

(What could she be so surprised about? It’s not like the monsters were particularly strong or anything.)

Ritsu walks while thinking with a stiff expression.

(If I speak carelessly, I might end up digging my own grave.)

The two walked through the forest in silence, back to their tents.
